That would send the proper message.
I agree with another poster's comment, that 2010 is too long to wait. Perhaps this spring or summer instead.
It would also be important to get members of Congress to attend as well.
Of the 80 million gun owners, how many are going to be able to take that much time off? 10 or 20 mil isn’t going to happen for anything shy of an outright rebellion.
How about ten million? Twenty million?

Too many of us cannot get to Washington or can’t afford to go. Not strategically wise to all gather in the same rain barrel.
Monday morning July 6th. Millions of gun owners fill the streets surrounding the nearest Federal office building or Courthouse. Concealed carry or empty holster, pitchfork or axe handle. All legal and a lot more visible. spokespersons and video bloggers at each location.
Should happen this year not next. 2010 will be too late.
