Exactly. Republicans vote on the issues, and romney fails badly on the ones they care about.

RATS like his stand on those issues, hence, if he wants to be nominated he should run as a RAT!

Excellent article, although I don’t agree with some of the author’s categories. For instance, attributing “economic populism” to Democrats requires accepting what they say they value, rather than looking at the actual, and predictable, outcomes of their policies, as well as overlooking the obvious economic benefits to them, only, of their controlling the economy.

On his point about self-selected “elites’” contempt for the electoral process, the author is right on. We can see it among “conservatives” who, only 2 weeks into the current administration, are declaring that it’s impossible, it would be disastrous, for Sarah Palin to be the Republican nominee in 2012 - just as if we weren’t going to hold elections to decide this several years from now. As I like to point out, just a short time ago when it was absolutely guaranteed that Rudy Giuliani would be the Republican nominee ... old one-delegate Rudy. How many times do people have to be wrong before give up making predictions from On High?

And it isn’t found on the Blue Blood Rockefeller golf courses, folks.

The Rockefellers may have become American aristocracy, but the father of the original John D. was a philanderer (and his forbearers were farmers). Perhaps his father's abandonment of the family caused John D. to vow never to be hungry again, to paraphrase Scarlett O'Hara.

The author here certainly lays out a challenge with which Palin --- and the Repubs --- will engage and triumph, or not engage and not triumph.

Bears repeating.

Also, an aside: Gotta love a guy who uses the word "contumely."

Yep; nice one:

con⋅tu⋅me⋅ly   [kon-too-muh-lee, -tyoo-; kuhn-too-muh-lee, -tyoo-; kon-tuhm-lee, -tyoom, -chuhm] –noun, plural -lies.
1. insulting display of contempt in words or actions; contemptuous or humiliating treatment.
2. a humiliating insult.

I agree, and with that new, vicious, go-for-the-jugular-immediately style, instead of engaging the issues with respect for the two-party system.

Folks, we can no longer ignore that supporters of the Constitution are being overtaken from within by revolutionary fervor coming from ignorant masses who have been whipped into a permanent state of anger and rejection by the old 60s radicals now running most sources of communication and education.

Do not, repeat, do not roll over and die. Choose your (peaceful) weapons and work on it every day. Online discussions should be a springboard, not just vents.

The real meaning of Sarah Palin’s campaign was that she ‘delivered’ -she is many women on the right- and was treated like a fetus in a leftist bloody abortion.

Whoa! On target!

You know, it's easy even for conservatives who would never consider having an abortion just to ignore the toll its presence has taken on the national psyche. At our peril.

The fact that such plainly unGodly behavior is tolerated adds to the clear division between those who believe our nation was founded on natural law from our Creator and those who want to spit in His eye for their strictly personal agenda and think there will be no national consequences.

r the ping!

You are very welcome. Sarah may not ever be able to get over the tarring done by the press in the recent race; but the tactical mistakes made by the RNC surrounding her candidacy really need to be considered mistakes of the party regarding how to communicate with voters, who clearly loved her or hated her.

I don’t agree with ...the author’s... attributing “economic populism” to Democrats ... rather than looking at the actual, and predictable, outcomes of their policies, as well as overlooking the obvious economic benefits to them, only, of their controlling the economy.

I agree that the author was effortful in trying to neatly divide the forces into two symmetrically opposed camps. What I saw in the election was a whole mess of voters encultured by hypermedia who were manifestly oblivious to the issues, and voted strictly on "feel-good" populism and slick marketing of empty slogans.

... about self-selected “elites’” contempt for the electoral process, the author is right on. We can see it [even] among “conservatives” ... just a short time ago ... it was absolutely guaranteed that Rudy Giuliani would be the Republican nominee ...

Right on the money. The entire "talking head" and "pundit" and "24-hour news cycle" thing is disastrous for the nation, leading everyone to a state of hyperemergency at all times, resulting in paralysis alternating with stupid decision-making based on false, manipulated criteria. It's like conducting a trial in the media, only it's public policy being whipped about by journalism majors who, like Senators, spend a great deal of their time devoted to their grooming -- and how to remain in their seats.

We have to consider ourselves dissidents of the Twenty-first century. We each have to do our best to spread news that the establishment media refuses to spread.

The time for expecting “others” to do it has past.

One example of spreading the news is to pass on to friends what Nancy Pelosi said about birth control being ‘stimulative to the economy.’ She must look on every new child as a new dependent on government instead of as a potential new wage-earner/social security payer.

Very good.

We can coin a new one right here, right now. The National Abortion Psyche. The NAP.

The damage done to the psyche by abortion on a national scale... the guilt - the how dare you make me feel guilty - the I WILL rationalize murder of an innocent so this so it doesn't destroy ME - the I don't dare, I can't truly love anyone because I'm not worthy... that so obviously exists in those who submit to this act (so obvious to everyone but them) is phenomenal. That "Twisted Sisters'" behavior then MUST be tolerated, otherwise they really have no reason to exist because LIFE no longer matters (except to kill other good things).

That trauma/damage causes hearts and minds to shut down, ergo NAP. And to think they pretend to be concerned about our troops' well-being.

In the previous post to maica you said, "Do not, repeat, do not roll over and die.". Interesting how that ties together in that this is precisely what a fetus is forced to do in an abortion. The left can't/won't/doesn't want to be bothered by those who don't roll over and die, who fight to survive.

Chauvinism is just a male trait anymore.

chau⋅vin⋅ism [shoh-vuh-niz-uhm]–noun
1. zealous and aggressive patriotism or blind enthusiasm for military glory.
2. biased devotion to any group, attitude, or cause.

Another perfectly good gender-neutral word, like gay, now fully occupied by leftist ideology.
