The Impending Obama Meltdown
National Review Online ^ | February 4, 2009 | Victor Davis Hanson

Some of us have been warning that it was not healthy for the U.S. media to have deified rather than questioned Obama, especially given that they tore apart Bush, ridiculed Palin, and caricatured Hillary. And now we can see the results of their two years of advocacy rather than scrutiny.

We are quite literally after two weeks teetering on an Obama implosion—and with no Dick Morris to bail him out—brought on by messianic delusions of grandeur, hubris, and a strange naivete that soaring rhetoric and a multiracial profile can add requisite cover to good old-fashioned Chicago politicking.

You're referring to Biden's gaffe? FDR wasn't on TV in '29...

Yes. That's why I referenced Joe "My IQ is Higher than yours" Biden in my post.

I suspect a lot of these early decisions are just payback for supporters. One doesn’t raise $750 million from mysterious sources without making promises along the way. But, yes, incompetence is definitely a factor also.

Every time I see or hear this moron he is searching for a train of thought. He starts relying to a question, then hesitates as you can see him trying to figure out what the hell he’s supposed to be talking about. He’s lost. That’s why he stutters constantly. When you have NO personal convictions, credo, and philosophy to guide your thoughts you end up just adding words together to produce meaningless nonsense. This creep is really lame.

“Soros and maybe Ayres? or Soros through Ayres?”

I think Soros through Ayres is probably most likely.
Obama isn’t stupid, I don’t think it’s like they call him and tell him what to do. I think Obama leans on Ayres. Ayres groomed him. It’s entirely possible Ayres got funding from Soros.
But I think Obama looks to others for what to do, what to say, how to act.

darkwolf...Reagan lost the run for presidency TWICE (68 & 76) for the same reasons. The media made him out to be a bumpkin/hick, etc. And look what happened.

Don’t let the liberal media dictate to you about our candidates. Palin is a rock solid conservative.

This article shall be bookmarked for posterity. 12 days in and they’re tired of the White House, feeling cramped in there, I can’t even believe they would utter that to children, much less think it. What’s worse and I find it ODD, is michelle obama is planning on visiting all the Depts and letting herself be known there, “to learn and listen” she said. Can you imagine her planning a visit to say, the Treasury Dept or the Dept. of HHS and taking peoples time to learn what goes on at each Dept? I think she’s a dunce.

Obama immediately must lower the hope-and-change rhetoric, ignore Reid/Pelosi, drop the therapy, and accept the tragic view that the world abroad is not misunderstood but quite dangerous. And he must listen on foreign policy to his National Security Advisor, Billary, and the Secretary of Defense.

One of the benefits of military service (that Obama does not enjoy) is that a young person very quickly becomes aware of that tragic view upon deployment. You don't even have to try, all you have to do is leave base.

But read the last sentence and tremble. Yes, in the short matter of two weeks we have been reduced to recommending that the babe in the woods that is our President lean on that babe in the woods that is our Secretary of State for a "realistic" worldview with respect to foreign policy. God help us all on that one. No wonder the likes of Iran, North Korea, Venezuela, and Russia are licking their chops. It's the "fresh meat!" call they always make when the new guys make their entrance into the penitentiary.

On the way home, I was flipping through radio stations and happened upon Michael Savage reading “The Emperor’s New Clothes” basically equating Uhbamuh with the Emperor. I understand the analogy, but I think the way it works best is to state that Uhbamuh is actually the clothes and his supporters are the Emperor. I am certain many of his supporters saw during the election season that there was very little content when you examined Uhbamuh closely, but nobody wanted to fess up to this, fearing being called stupid or intolerant. It may take a couple of years, but somebody on the left is going to finally look at their new clothes and understand there’s really nothing there. Whether others will respond like the villagers in the story is a different matter. My guess is his supporters will be far less willing to admit their folly in supporting him than the villagers were in admitting the Emperor was walking around with no clothes on.
