Ha, probably whatever is the easiest to maintain - I've heard F-16's are great from a maintenance stand-point, and with avionics upgrades still one of the best in the air and versatile as all hell, (cheap, too).

One unspoken factor in the MRCA contest is spinoffs for the indigenous LCA project. The engines used in the Eurofighter and the Super Hornet have been shortlisted as candidates for a growth version of the LCA-common sense would suggest that these two aircraft should be frontrunners.
