The only reason it won;t happen here is we have a well armed populace...and a military that will not kill it’s citzens.

I guarantee the firestorm battle that would occur if citizens were forcably rounded up would be enough to give any govermental body pause.

Besides...I don;t the National guard would send citizens off to death camps...nor re-education camps for that matter.

“OK, if I grant you that everything you wrote is true, then why do we have them?”

You could ask that about most of the things our government spends money on. Wishful thinking, I guess. They don’t want to be caught unprepared.

I’ll take a double-wide double-formadlehyde, that ought to get my misery over with sooner, unless that is, we become like the “wolverines” and decide to resist.

“Assuming it can’t happen here is one of the surest ways to assure that it does.”

Assuming it can’t happen is one thing. Saying THIS IS IT is quite another.

I can order a beer, find the train station and ask a girl if she’s available, that’s about it.

Of course when your german was learned from a retired veteran with a twisted sense of humor, you have to be careful that he’s not setting you up.

Maybe it's not all that paranoid.

I'll grant that the purpose of the "camps" is to provide housing in the event of a natural disaster or emergency, and that during a true disaster in which people become homeless somehting like that might be helpful.

But why ASLO launch an effort to arrange things so that the president, with no input from the other branches of our government, can decide what constitutes an emergency and then declare said emergency; thereby opening the "camps" at HIS will?

I did not particularly like GWB's Executive Branch power expansion attempts and I DEFINITELY am not going to like any such attempts on the part of the Obamessiah and his Obamites.

Ironic how all the things the DUmmies dreamed up as happening under President Bush, look more likely under Hussein.

It's called "projection."

The only reason it won;t happen here is we have a well armed populace.

Which is something the Obama Admin has pledged to cure.

..and a military that will not kill it’s citzens.

Oh, who was that operating the tanks at Waco in 1993 and killing women and children? Oh, right, that was the US Army.

I guarantee the firestorm battle that would occur if citizens were forcably rounded up would be enough to give any govermental body pause.

And when Obama requires you to turn in all of your ammunition and to register your guns and then follows up with predictable seizures that firestorm will be fought with what?

Besides...I don;t the National guard would send citizens off to death camps...nor re-education camps for that matter.

Yet that's EXACTLY what happened when the National Guard transported American citizens to concentration camps in 1942 under Executive Order 9066 which was NEVER ruled as unConstitutional by the Supreme Court so it could arguably and legally be enacted again to apply to anyone Obama wants it to apply to.

These will work very well as re-education camps for all of us who fail to grasp the higher meaning of socialism/communism.

First they will round us up and send us to the camps, those who fail to show up will disappear as will those who fail to make the adjustment to be retrained to Maxism, Karl not Harpo.

Me I will gladly go for re-education right after I run out of ammo.

There was lots of talk about these "camps" during Clinton's tenure. It all went away during Bush's two terms. Obama appears on the scene and hires all the same rascals for his administration. The talk returns. I don't think it's a coincidence. The weasels coming on the payroll have something in mind. They plan to finish what was interrupted when they lost their jobs in 2000.

We may have had emergency camps for decades but we haven’t had Socialists in the White House with an agenda to turn this country into a Liberal hell. Think again if you think anything these gutter scum do is innocent.

Good Lord, we are becoming as paranoid as the Rockwellites and Birchers..

Oh you think all is sweetness and light then?

Have you read the damn bill?

You'll probably be 'helping' the authorities identify pesky conservatives who 'need' to be 'temporarily' placed in those camps during a time of 'crisis'.

The locked-glass-doored ammo cabinet in my local Walmart has been bare for the past week or so. A month ago it was full of everything.

Hitler had to build the camps before he filled them. So did Stalin. So did Mao. So did Pol Pot.

We do not need such camps in this country. Not today, not ever. The fact of their provision on military bases also puts the people in those camps outside of normal jurisprudence and Constitutional protections as the conduct of persons on military reservations falls under the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Once you're in one of those camps there will be no calling a lawyer to get you out.

I'm not worried about it because I'm not going in the first place.

"How would you like to know you could be carted off to a military installation at the whim of the Secretary of Homeland Security?"

How would all the police in the country like to face the probability that because of such a law, their probability of getting blown away when they approach a house had increased 10,000 fold?

The Obaminites are over-stepping heavily, and will soon get yanked up short.

A logical thinking person cannot call the “Birchers” paranoid; everything they foretold has come to pass in spades.

We now are obliged to call them prophets.

Let’s say they decided to use the army to deliberately round up large segments of the population for whatever reason. This plan would not be enough. They’d need bigger camps. Plus, unlike European Jewry, we have guns and are willing to use them.

Good summation. I wonder how many rounds of ammunition were stashed in all of the Jewish households in Germany, combined?

Betcha some people who post here have more ammo stacked in their garage.

Shades of FR circa 1998. This place was littered with posts about FEMA concentration camps, secret lists of individuals to be rounded up, mysterious caravans of UN vehicles and unmarked helicopters around the country, secret patriotic factions within the government trying to expose tyrannical conspiracies, etc, etc, etc.

“gave the president the authority to declare an emergency and take over the direction of all federal, state, local, territorial and tribal governments without even consulting Congress.”

I don’t think an EO or directive can override an act enacted by congress and signed by the president.

I’m referring to the Stafford Act.

I need to see that unspecified directive.
