The Raptor is the world's most sophisticated defense weapon in the air - and it's ours. It was conceived in the mid-eighties to replace our aging fleet of F-15s, the entire fleet of which, you may recall, was grounded over safety concerns for two months in late 2007.
Nothing in the world can match the Raptor - although Russia and China are trying hard to catch up. To give you just a bit of an idea of this plane's capabilities, in testing "a Raptor dropped a 1,000-pound JDAM (guided bomb) from 50,000 feet (passenger jets generally fly at around 35,000 feet) while cruising at Mach 1.5 (around 1,000 miles per hour), striking a moving target 24 miles away." That's roughly the distance between the Washington, DC, beltway and the Baltimore beltway.

Do you think the Rap is better then the F/A-37?
Without any question he will, and so much more.
Hard to compare apples and oranges, but when you are talking over-all 5th generation capabilities, yes, very much better.
JSF has its own strengths, to be sure.
Huh? JDAMs are GPS guided bombs. You enter in the location you want to hit and it is guided there. You can't hit a moving target (like with a laser guided bomb) unless you get lucky enough to have it driving over the target location at exactly the right time or you find some way of constantly updating the target location on the bomb after it has been let loose.
No, he already said he was not going to build anything new. So there, problem eliminated.
Underming the military and national defense is on Hussein’s agenda. This quisling effort will no doubt endear BO to his muslim brothers.
We now have laser-guided JDAMS.
New in 2008, IIRC.
When are Americans ever going to learn? HOPE NOT?
Democrat= Anti-American
Liberal Democrat= Traitor
Marxist Liberal Democrat = Dangerous Anti-American Traitor
Quisling,thought he was right........B. Hussein knows he's a traitor to the U.S..
He is frankly an enemy of the state.
Zero probably thinks it's still good enough ...
Iran HOPES that Obama dose to the F-22A as Carter did to the B-1A.
But actually.. its not what Obama is going to do to the Raptor.. Its the Senate appropriations committee that insist that the US can not afford to purchase the Raptor in large numbers. But yet.. our present air superiority fighter the F-15C is aging and it airframe is developing problems as the years go on.
There are many senators who have been screaming that the US dose not need new aircraft because it has no enemy to fight.. That is a dangerous assumption... China, Russia and even Europe are developing new aircraft
The Raptor is needed.. the F-35 Lightning II is needed down the road.. But politics might do more damage to the US than a enemy in the air..
Author is an idiot or spreading misinformation.
As seen in “Mad Max—Beyond the Thunderdome” in green khaki?
“Do you think the Rap is better then the F/A-37?”
Yep
Because the F-22A is a Real Aircraft in service and proving itself.
The F/A-37 is a fictional aircraft.. created for a very bad movie. Stealth had to be one of the worst “military” style movies created in 10 or 15 years.
They work quite well. My brother was involved in testing back in the spring of 2008.
I have screen shots of the debrief 3D animation.
The author knows whereof he speaks.
What on earth are you talking about? The F-22 isn't aimed at Iran. The F-22 is an air superiority fighter. Shooting down Iran's fighters would take about a minute and a half with existing technology -- no need for an expensive upgrade. The basic problem with Iran is negating their antiaircraft capabilities. F22 in its ground attack role would probably not be a step up and the US has other options that make more sense.
The F22 is aimed at maintaining core advantages over China and Russia, not Iran.
Whatever will result in the greatest harm, will be done by this group of clowns no administering the government. “In declining states the leadership intuitively choses the most harmful course of action.”-A Great Historian 1888
