Vote them out. They should be cutting their budgets and workforce. They need to cancel unfilled positions many state and local governments purposely overstate the number of positions just to make budget requests bigger. We have to live within our means what don’t these bureaucrats not understand? We need to take Uncle Sam’s credit card away from them and throw it into a furnace and burn it. If we have any luck many of them will dive in after it and save us the unsavory business of dealing with them again.

Poor headline and worse writing. Tim Pawlenty summed it up at the end:

Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, who is widely viewed as a potential presidential contender in 2012, said governors have little choice but to accept the relief being offered. “States have to balance their budgets,” he said. “So if we’re going to go down this path, we are entitled to ask for our share of the money.”

But Pawlenty expressed reservations about the cost of the plan and its impact on the federal deficit, which has already grown to over $1 trillion.

“I’m quite concerned about the federal government spending money it doesn’t have,” Pawlenty said. “We’re on an unsustainable path of deficit spending and borrowing.”

No mention of Gov Rick Perry of TX or a lot of other Republican Governors. AP article on Fox News so once again you are not sure of the content. The article is pretty disjointed and leaves one wondering what was really said.

Why do so many people on here jump to conclusions when it is an AP article who are not the most reporters?

The politicians are taking care of that avenue, between them (left and “right”) they are either pandering to “gimme” voters or preparing ways for a huge influx of the kind of immigrants who come here for the freebies, not for the opportunity to work and be free. There are just too many voters now who are willing to vote for the man who will have the state “take care of them” at the cost of their true freedom (they never knew what it really meant or was for anyway), as opposed to the few of us who would gladly live as simply as necessary, as long as we have the freedom to keep what we earn, raise families as we see fit, the right to freedom of association and worship, and the right to create communities where decency prevails over political correctness. But barring something drastic, those days are long gone, we are out-numbered. The Founding Fathers would mourn if they could see all the ways we are beholden to the state, all the ways we are regulated and taxed at the point of the loss of our natural freedom, after the sacrifices of property and life they made to secure it for themselves and their posterity. I would be ashamed to look them in the face at the way we have all just surrendered that freedom so dearly bought, so that now we can be jailed for not allowing what we earn to be confiscated to pay for things we oppose and which in all of civilised human history, until recently, were accepted in the common sense of being despicable-abortion, living off the sweat of others, supporting perversion, etc.
