MARION, Ky. In some parts of rural Kentucky, they're getting water the old-fashioned way with pails from a creek. There's not room for one more sleeping bag on the shelter floor. The creative are flushing their toilets with melted snow.
At least 42 people have died, including 11 in Kentucky, and conditions are worsening in many places days after an ice storm knocked out power to 1.3 million customers from the Plains to the East Coast. And with no hope that the lights will come back on soon, small communities are frantically struggling to help their residents.

Prezactly.
This I just found on the Boston Globe.....’ICE STORM DEATH TOLL RISES, OBAMA HOSTS PARTY
If Kerry woulda never invited Algore to speak on gorebull warming, none of this would have happened...Algore shows, it snows (or in this case 3 inches of ice). A year ago, before Christmas time, Paducah was hit by a blizzard that shut down 80 miles of Interstate for a day or so. I forget where Algore spoke that time. If Kentucky was smart, they’d move away from Tennessee until Algore retires his curse.
He watches Boston Legal reruns.
Ping
obama doesnt care about white people
It's never hot enough or cold enough to give a damn.
From what I’ve read, some urban areas ban all of those, including fireplaces, due to air quality concerns. It is next to impossible to find coal and the price for blacksmiths has increased a lot over 10-12 years ago, when my husband was using it for ironwork. I am not even sure about the legality of generators in those areas. In fact, I am fairly sure that the old fashioned kerosene heaters are now banned, due to carbon monoxide and house fire concerns.
In the county next to mine, outdoor wood boilers are banned, as are greenhouses in residential areas.
However, people are being allowed to have chickens in their backyards. Perhaps if the concerns were couched in terms of chicken lives/comfort, there would be a more positive response.
Don't you people know how to use statistics and stereotypes?
The people in rural Kentucky have very high illiteracy rates and lower than average incomes.
Obama and his party hate the disadvantaged poor white people!!!
Over a 1000 deaths reported for Katrina. So far only 42 reported for the 2009 Ice Storms. Where are you getting your numbers?
Why did Obama allow people to die in the 2009 Ice Storm?Seems to me Yahoo Answers needs more knowledgeable Freepers to work the bedazzled and confused masses.
Hahaha! Didn’t take any time for them to come out of the woodwork, did it?..........:
“Shut up you judgmental piece of white trash
People get injured everyday because of accidents...Did you expect McCain to leave his luxury to help people personally?
He’s human just like us.”
Another Zero voter, no doubt.
He actually said this and it wasn't a front page news story?
I hope the sheep that voted him are now seeing what many of all already knew. This POS has no compassion. He hates America. He hates whites. He hates people that work hard and achieve. He hates everything America stands for. He has one goal and only one. To enrich himself and to change this country forever and if anyone can’t see that, they are blind. He has to go. Keep digging, there is much in his past. I believe it will be discovered and he will be impeached or resign before the next election.
One must first be chronically dependent on the Federal Government to qualify for media sponsored indignation.
BTTT
This can't happen until the MSM makes a determined effort to inform these poor souls. Guess when that'll happen.
