It makes no difference what religion he is. If the fact that Obammy was as proabortion as he could get didn’t affect Catholic vote, why would the fact that the RNC elected a Catholic affect the Catholic vote? I hope it does but I wouldn’t bet on it.

What religion are you? I am Catholic and pardon me for being a little thrilled to see my coreligionist for what I know as the first time to thold the chair. Appealing to religious groups does matter a great deal.

John McCain did not do enough to make the life issue to appeal to Catholics. Those Catholics ought to have known better but if you don’t throw a bone you can’t complain (plus the economic crisis killed him). Catholics are well aligned with the GOP on life and many other issues and Steele has the credibility and ability to communicate that to Catholics and all Americans.
