“And, yes its a plus that he can be critical of Obama without having to worry about being called racist.”

I appreciate your optimism, but is that like a black policeman not being called a racist when he pulls over a black man?

The standard for the (racist) democrat party is that a black man is only black when and if he belongs to the party. Take Barack for instance... you would think he is a black man and nothing else, when his mother is white. They are willing to throw away ancestry and ancestors with it if it promotes their cause.

To them, Michael Steele is nothing but a white man in a brown suit. To us, he may be a champion but the democrats and the mainstream media will never be convinced.

(examples include but are not limited to Clarence Thomas, Condoleeza Rice...)

Here’s a simple solution why don’t you send Steele an e-mail saying you will leave the GOP unless he clarifies his position on Roe and life issues?

“This is the same rhetoric that gave us John McCain and BHO.”

So which of the conservative principles are we OK with bashing in the head with a brick?

I’m not alright with taking a candidate who’s fiscally conservative just so we can call them a true conservative. Social and moral issues trump fiscal conservatism every time.

Unless, of course I misunderstand your point...

Oh and one more thing - why don’t you stop clinging to one debate segment. I notice also you could explain that while he dodged Roe as not relevant to the Senate (100% true) you made no mention in the same debate of his obstinate opposition to ESCR. ‘Splain that.

No conviction; it was a purely political answer (something a long the lines of what Kabama would have given).

I am Catholic AND VERY PRO-LIFE and it disgust me to see Catholics and any Christian who voted for Obama. But the real question is not if anyone is Catholic or Christian but are they truly faithful to the gospel. I know many Catholics who are dems and they think the republicans are just for the rich. I politely tell them we are very far from rich but very pro-life and the dems are a pro-death party by their own choice. Someone said you must allow a child to be born in order to feed it. I believe people who vote for the dems believe they don’t want the responsiability of assisting their neighbor they want the government to do it for them.

Dear Norman Bates,

“All those things a pro-abortion politician do not add up to.”

I haven't said that Mr. Steele is a pro-abort politician. I've said that given his remarks from the 2006 election, it's no longer reasonable to count him as a pro-life politician.

If he wishes to say that he's pro-life, he needs to clarify his views on Roe. If he can't, then it is unreasonable to assert that he's pro-life.

In which case, I'm unwilling to belong to a political party with a chairman who is on record accepting Roe.

“By the way, Pelosi et al are not devout in any way shape or form.”

Many of these clowns go to Mass regularly. Many would regard those who assist at Mass weekly to be at least moderately devout. You, yourself define devoutness at least partly in terms of Mass attendance.

“You’re quite bitter then.”

Gee, I don't feel bitter. ;-)

But I try not to stick my head in the sand. Mr. Steele's words aren't congruent with those of a pro-lifer. If he wants to clarify, that's great! But without clarification, I can only go by what he's actually said.

Until he clarifies what he said, and reaffirms that Roe must go, I'll take him at his word. He accepts Roe. Stare decisis and all that.

“I wish I could get your money back. And mine.”

I'm not worried about the money, per se. I just don't want to help support people who do evil. Those who accept Roe do evil.

“Good night.”

Good night to you, too.

You compare Ron Paul’s stance on the Constitution to that of Steele, specifically the second amendment, and you will find a gaping disparity in your argument. That is the mindset of DU... party over principle. Just sayin.

Winning the issue depends on showing people t hat all life has value and worth. I appreciated what Sarah was doing throughout the campaign.

Headline: Fertilized egg found on mars

Does anyone really think Liberals wouldn’t use this as proof of life on mars? From there it would be a hop skip and a jump to suggest that God didn’t create it and that Earth is not unique. ahh, the hypocricy

Dear Norman Bates,

“...why don’t you stop clinging to one debate segment.”

It wasn't from a debate. It was from an interview on Meet the Press.

“I notice also you could explain that while he dodged Roe as not relevant to the Senate (100% true) you made no mention in the same debate of his obstinate opposition to ESCR. ‘Splain that.”

I pretty much DID address all of this. Did you read all that I wrote? I've said that he made “a muddled attempt at straddling the fence.”

I said that “he was trimming his sails against a Democrat opponent in an overwhelmingly Democrat state.”

I also said, “I'm even willing to give him a mulligan, and if he ‘clarifies’ his position back to a more uniformly pro-life position, I'm willing to forget it.”

But I'll reiterate.

He said that Roe should now stand.

And that IS NOT a pro-life position.

As for contacting him about it, I'll give it some thought.

Frankly, I'm not sure that he'll be particularly interested in assuaging one single little registered Republican, and I rather suspect that I'll get back more gobbledygook where he claims to be pro-life while refusing to say that Roe should go.

And honestly, my tolerance for that kind of crap is pretty much used up.

Furthermore, I'd like to think that if he were genuinely pro-life, he'd repair the damages from his statement without prompting.

But maybe it's too much to hope that he's truly a pro-lifer of integrity.

I wouldn’t mind Ron Paul running the economy for awhile.

Don’t agree with him on everything to be sure but I haven’t heard to many people come out against bailopolis as much as him

Dear Norman Bates,

“And you live in Maryland too. You ought to know Steele better than that.”

Having met the man and heard him speak on more than one occasion, I thought I did.

But I found his interview from October 2006 on Meet the Press to be very disappointing. I still voted for him, hoping that in the weeks and months to come, he'd clarify his position, and reiterate that Roe must go.

But he didn't.

Now it's over two years.

I'll take him at his word that he believes that Roe should stand. At least until he says otherwise.

Amen!! There should be enough Catholic votes there to prevent Democrats from winning elections. Somehow, someone needs to educate them.

LCMS means Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. When you hear the term "Lutheran" it can mean many things. They're like Catholics. You cannot count on a "Lutheran" necessarily following Biblical principles.

We left a liberal Evangelical Lutheran Church in America for the conservative LCMS.
