Kudos to you Michael. Now stand tall and proud. Be strong and push conservative principles. Do not falter and do not shrink from the fight against Obama and the Democrats.
I don’t question the man’s work ethic one bit. I was only suggesting that he stay on the small-government, liberty and individual opportunity message that unifies the party. I have a great deal of respect for him, even though I don’t agree with him on every last issue.
I too stand with Michael Steele.

Ideologically he's OK but I never thought that important in someone who's not a candidate for office.
We'll see how he does but I find it bizarre that a man who- I believe, and someone correct if I'm wrong:
Was a loser as chairman of his state party,
Was a loser as a member of saome candidate picking committee,
And, of course, was a loser as a candidate.
I just don't see any way to ignore that. Of course, the way things have gone for the party lately there were few possible candidates for the office who weren't 'losers' LOL!

Michael S. Steele, Maryland Lt. Gov. since January 15, 2003, was the Republican candidate for U.S. Senate in the U.S. congressional elections in 2006. Steele was defeated by Democratic Congressman Ben Cardin in the November general elections

I thought the same thing, but as the events unfolded today, I am wondering how much accurate information we have on him.. for example, I always assumed he was pro-choice, however, various pro-life groups today are praising it saying he is strong pro-life..
Maybe I’ll send actual checks now instead of pictures of checks. Maybe.
Just make something witty to point out that those weren’t Rush’s words, those where words of the LA Times, Joe Biden, and other Liberals about Bambi, he was mocking dems who mocked Bambi.

Someone else astutely observed he was taking a risk in MD by taking the conservative positions he did when he ran. Let's give the guy a chance.
I for one am excited by the "entry pass" this buys conservatives to criticize those policies we don't agree with from the President, without the knee-jerk "Racism! Racism!" That is a major, major benefit to Steele's election that cannot be understated.
I like that! Can I use it as a tagline with credit to you, of course?

Republican Majority for Choice Applauds Michael Steele
WASHINGTON, DC (January 30, 2009) - The Republican National Committee elected today former Lieutenant Governor of Maryland Michael Steele as new Chairman of the Party. The Republican Majority for Choice (RMC), the largest pro-choice organization within the GOP, calls on the new Chairman to create a new “Big Tent” Agenda that reflects the diversity of the Party and embraces the true moderate majority.
“We congratulate Mr. Steele on his election. Michael Steele, the former Lt. Governor of Maryland knows what it takes to win in a Blue State and knows that to gain seats in federal, state and local elections across the country, the GOP must expand the base of the party to include more women and minorities,” Candy L. Straight, National co-Chair of the Republican Majority for Choice, said.
“The Republican Majority for Choice is optimistic that Mr. Steele will establish a new party agenda to recognize that there good Republicans who have differing views on social issues. The national Party needs to represent all Republicans — not just the vocal minority,” adds Susan Bevan, RMC National co-Chairperson.
According to national exit polls from the 2008 election, the Republican brand lost with the two largest voting blocs in the country - women and moderates. Self-described moderates - who make up 44% of the electorate - gave Obama a twenty-one point advantage over McCain. Women gave Obama a thirteen-point advantage (56% to 43%). The GOP only won the male vote 49% to 48%, a negligible difference. Voters under thirty, the future of both Parties, gave Obama a landslide victory (66% to 32%). Obama was able to capture 95% of the African-American vote and 67% of the Hispanic vote, the fast growing part of the electorate. Additionally, the GOP lost the majority of voters in key suburbs - which lean to the moderate middle - across the nation, and nine states formerly considered “safe” Republican states in 2004, including Indiana and North Carolina.
The devastating losses by Republicans in this past election provide an opportunity for the new Chairman to move away from the divisive, hyper-ideological issues that created a caustic wedge within the party, turning away women and moderates. Mr. Steele must move the Agenda back toward the defining principles of economic security and cutting government waste that are important to every American in this economic crisis, not just Republicans.
“We look forward to working with Mr. Steele to rebuild the Party. It is time that the Republican Party promotes inclusion while offering solutions to today’s economic crisis that stays true to our roots of limited government and personal responsibility,” concludes RMC Executive Director Kellie Ferguson.
