The number of fake £1 coins in circulation now stands at more than 30 million, according to the Royal Mint. How do you know if you've been given one?

"Quality is definitely dropping and fakes are now quite obvious, even to the untrained eye," says Mr Day, who has been studying the problem.

"The workmanship isn't what it used to be and most are pretty easy to spot."

I love those line! Doesn't anyone take pride in their work anymore?

Sure, they even have 2 pound coins.

These can really weigh down your pocket.

"They have one pound coins in England!"

Yeah....and the youts take a pocket full of them to throw at the ref and opposite side players at football matches.

See the film "Rock and Roller" for more details.

The counterfeiters must have outsourced to China...

One Pound Sterling used to exchangeable for a pound of silver, thus the name.

I would consider any coin that weighed a pound either a fake or aome kind of an antique that would be worth enough to retire on.

That's nothing! Check these out:

Notice how the top one (genuine) says "one SILVER dollar" directly under the picture of Washington, while the bottom one (fake) lacks that wording. Even the untrained eye can distinguish these, too.

I preffer those that say “Pay to the bearer on demand ONE DOLLAR(or other denomintation)in GOLD OR SILVER”.

Remember when they withdrew the silver certificates. Made the current crisis inevitable.

Made in Pakistan?

I visited Hong Kong in 1978 where a friend of min in the Fraud Squad of the Royal Hong Kong Police told me they were having a problem with the Chinese counterfeiting the coinage.

Fortunately, he told me, the fakes were easy to identify.

They had less impurities and less imperfections than the real coins that came from the Royal Mint.

The deeply metaphysical difference between those two pieces of paper is shown by the fact that the first has a COMPLETE SENTENCE on it: This certifies that there has been deposited in the Treasury of the United States of America one Silver Dollar payable to the bearer on demand.

That means that the piece of paper expresses a COMMITMENT by the government to the bearer.

The second piece of paper is diabolically designed to look a lot like the first piece of paper, in order to deceive, hoodwink, the government-edumucated roob who has it in his pocket. It says: United States of America One Dollar.

Which is not a sentence. It expresses NO commitment by the government to do ANYTHING.

The presence of serial numbers, lots of little filigrees and curlicues, a picture of George Washington, has been sufficient to fool the government-edumucated into thinking this is “money.” Why not? That’s what the government wants the roobs to think: “Money” is paper with numbers, filigrees, curlicues, and Presidents on it.

In order to possess a deeper, more accurate understanding of what “money” is requires at least five minutes of READING, and THINKING.

That’s why the Communists and Atheists imported government schooling to America from Prussia in the 1830s. They wanted to see the day when only a tiny minority of Americans would be capable of READING and THINKING about any abstract subject for five minutes at a time. That day has arrived.

The FOCUS of EVIL in AMERICA is NOT the Democratic Party.

It is the Feeder System for the Democratic Party—government edumucation.
