All I have to add is this:

THE CORRECT PRONUNCIATION IS “LUSS”.

If I hear one more person say “lowess”, I’m gonna bust a vein in my head.

LUSS is what Carter said he had in his heart. And Lowess is used as the opposite of “Your Highess” as in “Your Lowess”.

If that vein pops, can you send pictures?

This is not to be confused with the acronym "lowess" which is pronounced the way it reads. In a scatterplot or time series plot, the "lowess" (locally weighted scatterplot smoother) is used to identify trends in the data.
