The sad thing about Chicago politics is that almost all of the citizens accept that it is rotten to the core and do nothing about it. When the topic comes up, it is a smile, a wink, a knowing laugh and life goes on. Unions are the worst enablers of corruption, because they fund it. The mayor of Chicago, the spawn of a master crook, illegally closed the lakeside airport in the dark of night AND GOT AWAY WITH IT.

Same old stuff, this governor episode. People used to think that “downstate politics” was clean or at least cleaner but the recent past proves that is no longer the case. Rod B, (former GUV), is a product of the ward politics that have such an obscene hold on the city.

He might very well disappear, buried under the runway at Meigs.

impeached and convicted in the senate. Not in a criminal case.

So, a bunch of criminals convicted one of their own?

Depends where Fitzgerald's loyalties really lie, I guess.

We all know where Fitzgerald's loyalties lie, he's a DNC hack with no ethics or integrity. That's just been proven to the entire world.

If I had 1/3 of his hair, I’d have more hair than I’ve ever had in my life!

Let’s just hope he’s a big enough meglomaniac to try to bring them down.

Downstate and Chicago are different critters - downstate impeached him. But the bodies are in Chicago (and, now, Washington). If he messes with Chicago.. talks too much, I think he’ll literally disappear.

What was taboo was he stepped lightly on the wrong liberal toes somewhere, probably 0bama's.

Nah...liberal bastion Chicago was put in the national spotlight and we all viewed all their corruption, murders and poor street people lying on the curbs.

Somebody had to be a scapegoat. Now see...everything is all better now. We can stop comparing Chicago to Baghdad. Isn't it amazing how fast everything was fixed?

What a distinction — to be an Illinois pol judged by other Illinois pols to be too crooked to hold office.

I've silently hoped Blagojevich would open the can that holds all zero's worms .. I'd hoped it would be a public spectacle, but ALAS! .. if that could have happened ... the chance was lost when he tried to plead his case before the senate.

I saw most of his speech, he seemed to give the legislators a veiled threat along the lines of this could happen to you, now at this time he has no state police security according to local fox station and I'm hoping nothing happens to him.

Thats something obama supporters might say. Blago being thrown under the bus is not necessarily good for us..

Fitzgerald blew it by not letting Blagojevich go through with the deal with Jesse Jackson, Jr.

Fitgerald didn't blow it. That was his plan. He arrested Blago to prevent other big name Democrats from getting in too deep and actually completing a deal with Blago.
