Democratic National Committee files motion to intervene in RNC v. FEC
WASHINGTON, Jan. 29 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today the Democratic National Committee announced that it filed a motion to intervene in the case of the Republican National Committee v. FEC, in which the RNC is seeking to dismantle the soft money provisions of the bi-partisan McCain Feingold campaign reform act (BCRA) of 2002. After a bruising defeat in November 2008, the RNC filed suit in the District of Columbia, challenging the constitutionality of the central tenet of BCRA - the ban on national party soft money. In its suit, the RNC relies on the same arguments that it made and that the Supreme Court previously rejected in McConnell v. FEC in 2003.

Clearly Campaign Finance Reform did NOT work.
Obama spent more than anyone ever, 3-to-1, with one third of his money coming from overseas contributors.
This is a farce.
The joke is that the maggots running the RNC thought that McCain-Feingold was wonderful, until they finally figured out that the Republicans were losing their shirts.
Is McCain still proud of this accomplishment?
One more thing McCain didn’t have the juevos to mention during the campaign. No fool like an old fool...
Well of course the DNC wants to do that. McCain/Feingold gutted the GOP fundraising machine, which was its purpose. And Bush could have $hitcanned it. But he chose to pass the buck.
What the GOP should do is just to ignore all the silly rules and do what they want. The DNC does.

No sir, he signed the damn thing.
Yep. Russ Feingold was smart enough to figure that out. The question is, did McCain have the same goal in mind (to destroy the GOP) or was he simply too dumb to forsee the consequences?
It’s true McCain pulled out of Michigan during the campaign.
The DNC has not, however, pulled out of McCain yet.
All evidence points to this fact, therefore yes, John McCain did have the goal in mind to damage the GOP by sponsoring M/F-CFR.
My bet, yes.
No sir, he signed the damn thing.
That’s what I mean. He signed it an passed the buck to the Supreme Court.
I hope their mamas raised them right, and the higher-ups in the Democratic Party were polite enough to have sent Mr. McCain flowers or maybe a subscription to the Liver Spot-Cream-of-the-Month Club when McCain-Feingold passed.
I would be just sick to think think that Mr. McCain didn't get anything for all of his hard work and bi-partisanship.

In truth, I don't blame the Democrats one bit for this. I don't trust them as far as I could throw them, of course, but why should they go along with destroying something that helps them so much and hurts the GOP?
If we walk away with anything, it should be that we will, in the future, steadfastly refuse to flinch when McCain's siren call of "Reach around across the aisle" is heard. We should never forget that the siren's pretty song hides certain death on the hidden rocks.*
Democrats aren't stupid, you know. Just dishonest and not-so-nice.
*Please, someone Photoshop McCain's head onto a mermaid's body. Fr some reason I find that mental image very funny.
I say we leave it alone but left John McCain add in a clause that wipes out the ability to register to vote any way except showing up inperson at the Board of Elecxtions in the county in which you live with a photo ID!
