If they erase their browsing history, I will erase their desktop.
That means the loss of all their games, pictures, and music for ONE visit, period.
They can trash their mom's computer but not mine.
They do not have administrator privileges.

There’s at least one FR group on Facebook, and more conservative groups are starting each day. Not just for gossipy wimmen.
Oh, and tell ‘Zo that! :-D He’s got one, too.
>>give a bunch of info out about me including how I look and then try to make friends.
I’ve found FB to be a great way to reconnect with people I lost track of over the years. Friends from high school, old jobs, etc.
There isn’t a single person on my FB ‘friends’ list that I don’t know in real life.
The best way to prevent this type of incident from happening is to not surf the web while you are logged on in an account that has “Administrator Privileges”.
Use “Guest Account” or create a separate account with limited rights to use only when you surf the web. This will get you on the web and if some piece of malicious software attempts to install, the computer will not allow it because the user account does not have sufficient authority for the action to continue.
More of a hassle, I know, but a safer way to use the web.

I can not tell you how many of my FB friends fell for it, including a bunch of IT hacks. My point to them was this: do you really think there's a video out there where your ass looks good enough to become viral?
I felt just like that 'til recently. Then my son and daughter-in-law, daughter and son-in-law, and the grandkids deemed old enough all started in with it about the same time.
I don't have, or do I seek, any "friends" beyond family, but its a nice way to keep involved with their daily activities and interests as well as pictures on a regular basis, especially since we are each some distance apart from each other.
Lamp working is where you make those little knick knacks out of glass with a bunson burner.
Everything that I download comes up as unknown, even Microsoft software.
Yep meow.
“Unknown” means “unknown to you”, not “unknown to the computer”. If you are on the Microsoft site, and you went there on purpose (not by clicking a link that claims to take you there but in fact is taking you to Sam the Scam’s “looks just like the real Microsoft” site) that is KNOWN. If you’re on somebody’s blog site, and it says “click here to install a really FUN game!” that is UNKNOWN.
My wife has used it to make contact with the kids she has taught over the last 25 years. Her first class is in their late 30’s now.
I mean, when I am just trying to update something like, Firefox, or Adobe, I get a message saying that an unknown party wants to access my computer.
Your security settings are high. That’s a GOOD thing. As long as you’re at a real website, like Adobe or Firefox, don’t worry about it. If you are at someone’s personal site, and there’s a link that says “Great Add-On for Adobe”, DON’T CLICK IT.
I've never had a virus so this was very new to me.
As for a lampwork artist? I melt glass with rods and use mandrels, I turn the glass into beads and then turn the beads into jewelry and they get sold all over the world. It's a nice gig and it affords me to stay at home with my four kids. I'm full time and I pay taxes so uh... sorry folks, it's a real job. Uncle Sam takes quite a bite. Nevertheless, I love what I do and if you want to check out my work, simply google my name. You'll find me.
The facebook virus can really get anyone if they're new enough to how facebook works, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't join, it just means you shouldn't go clicking things without knowing what it is. :)
In that order?
Same here. I don’t know why you would add people you don’t really know.
Facebook is not a chatroom. To even talk to somebody you have to be accepted as a friend, at least most of the time unless they are completely public.
Why would you just start adding random people? I have a couple people on there I only know online, but they are real people I met years ago in high school when I used yahoo messenger etc. and stumbled upon them somehow. Great people, and I consider them friends even though we met online.
But, everybody else.....went to college or high school with them (or know them from jobs).
Most facebook users actually are in their 30s and 40s, not college age like most people think.
Ironic since it started as a college-only site.
=”Step three, go read a book. Youre not smart enough for the internet.”
WRONG. the problem is that software manufacturers have failed to address the security issue.
This case is but 1 of many cases that created a banner year for hackers in 2008 which culminated in the Heartland Heist.
the era of Cowboy Programming ( ad hoc software updates ) MUST END, and it will: if software makers do not do it for themselves then government regulations will make them liable for damages resulting from malware.
I don’t use facebook to try and “make” friends. I go on and look for people I have lost touch with or I might not talk to as often otherwise. Everyone on my friends list are people I either know or went to high school with.
