Palin heading to D.C., will meet with McConnell

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) will head to Washington this weekend, in a move certain to set tongues wagging about the former Republican vice presidential nominee's national aspirations.

The Alaska governor, who ignited nationwide excitement in the GOP base when Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) selected her as his running mate, will address the exclusive Alfalfa Club, an organization of prominent politicians and business leaders who hold a major dinner every January.

Palin told the Anchorage Daily News she will attend the dinner because President Obama will be there. “How often will I have an opportunity to have dinner with the president? I will take up that offer to do so, yeah,” she told the paper.

. . . . .

While in Washington, Palin will also have dinner with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and meet with Alaska’s lobbyist to discuss economic stimulus legislation expected to reach the upper chamber on Monday.

If I were here I would distance myself from the Republican scoundrels, all of them, they started the bailout, never forget, time for a new party of the country is lost. It will take a new party to reclaim america, or violence is in our future, so go head, keep on a rootin’ for the republicans and watch your children’s lives be ruined.

According to the Constitution, appropriations bill must emanate from the House, which has been controlled by Democrats since the "Foley" election.

I didn't get into the Palin rush. I need to hear more of her positions, such as on illegal immigration, but I warned people who dismissed her....be careful. Despite their belief that she was stupid, she wasn't

I agree with you
nobody can make a speech like she did at the convention this summer and not be taken as a major future political foe.
We all forget how dynamic that moment was...

Say what you want, Bush abandoned capitalism, it’s people like you that still believe in the Republicans that are bringing the country down, the democrats, ya, that is there plan, but you’re too dense to see that the game is the Globe Trotters vs Generals, I’m done, I told my children that the country is lost, my generation of conservatives lost it for them, and they must take it back, and I did say through ideas not war, we are responsible, and especially every numskull that says a 3rd party can never win, they are the most guilty.

"I would distance myself from Republican scoundrels..."

*******************

Her strength is as an outsider, and it seems like she's letting herself get pulled in.

CNN writes: "Palin is slated to attend a dinner Friday night at the residence of Fred and Marlene Malek".

Malek was McCain's finance manager after Gramm, and you can Goggle-but he's as inside as they come. I'm a big supporter of Gov. Palin, -but if she links up with the Washingtonians, she's forfeiting her best campaign issue, imho.

I like Sarah...however, she did not write that speech. I have heard the interviews, the speech at governor’s thing and I just don’t think she is a national candidate. I would rather see her in the Senate or remain as Alaska’s Governor. Also, she talk the conservative talk, but did approve a windfall tax on oil companies in her state...hardly conservative. I am wary of another Pres. Bush...who talk like a conservative but does not govern as a conservative.

OTOH if she didn't attend or (gasp), worse yet, wasn't invited, wackos around here would point to it as "proof" of the ongoing blood feud between McCain and Palin.

Yep, she’s done for, she doesn’t get it. The Republican party is the enemy and must be replaced by a new party filled with average americans.
