Why does Obama need to do this? 2 Reasons:
1) nobama's ego can not let this go. I guarantee that he feels that this is a direct insult to him personally, nd a threat to his leadership postion.
2) socialists do not brook dissension. For the next 4 years, watch as the administration tries to tear down anyone, and everyone who crosses it. You think the 'toons were bad about it, you haven't seen anything, yet. The fun really starts when the Dems balk at his plans, once they realize what a zero he is.

Someone look in the Politico/MSM archives and see how many times they used the phrase Dems defy Bush overtures.

The president met privately with House Republicans at the Capitol, Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel had a private White House dinner for House GOP moderates, and the President had members of both parties and both chambers over for cocktails last night. But they did not peel off a single Republican.
I'm guessing that this was for a personal description of "Chicago Style Politics" by the experts. "Convert or your district will be left without any stimulus and you will never get another earmark. Your constituents will vote Democrat or die of starvation and unemployment,"

Rush is actually answering my question.
Basically they wanted at least 1 republican so they could claim Obama is the great uniter and got bipartisan support. But instead just the opposite happened...the vote AGAINST the bill was bipartisan with Rats and Republicans voting against it.

$800B to create 4M jobs that will vanish as soon as the money is spent. Quite the bargain..

Your math qualifies you for a position in the Pelosi budgeting committee.
(hint - you’re off by a factor of ten.)

I just called both of my Dem Senators, Kohl & Feingold. I know they’re Rats, but I think calling Dem Senators is a good idea too.

I’m sure Chrissy Matthews wishes Obama would play “Hardball”.

This math mistake is getting made EVERY SINGLE F’IN DAY and it is driving me nuts that it is not being corrected/caught before I have to read it.

The 800 billion isn’t even all spent on job creation. If it was they would spend two hundred thousand dollars per job.
800 billion divided by 4 million = two hundred thousand

Ah, I guess Obama’s Narcissism is one fact I hadn’t factored in. He truly believes his way is the only way and will not “brook dissension”. But I’m not so sure the rest of the Dem’s have quite the level of narcissism that Obama has. If they push the Republican Senators very hard, maybe they’ll even find their backbone.

WHY is he trying to force Republicans to vote for this. Doesn't he want the Dem's to own this fantabulous plan?
Exactly...your question sums it up. If it is so great, why not covet the glory?
Because Obama and that birdbrained harridan, Pelosi, know this stimulus welfare spending bill will not work. And they want to do it again...they have already made noises about it "not being enough". They do not want to shoulder all of the blame when it tanks...and makes the economic situation WORSE.
This is not melodrama: If the GOP and the USA are to survive, the Republicans must quickly tie all of the "bailouts" and "stimulus packages" around the necks of Obama and the democrats like an albatross. It must become a mantra, so when time passes and it begins to dawn on that segment of the Obama electorate that still possesses brain-stem activity that things have not gotten better, but worse...a connection will be made.
Sadly, it may already be too late to save our dollar.

Wonder how many of them voted Present? Publish THAT. None. There were 255 Democrats in Congress - 244 voted yes and 11 voted no. There are 178 Republicans and 177 voted no. Two seats are vacant. Only holdout appears to be Republican.
