The capital flew into a bit of a tizzy when, on his first full day in the White House, President Obama was photographed in the Oval Office without his suit jacket. There was, however, a logical explanation: Mr. Obama, who hates the cold, had cranked up the thermostat.
Hes from Hawaii, O.K.? said Mr. Obamas senior adviser, David Axelrod, who occupies the small but strategically located office next door to his boss. He likes it warm. You could grow orchids in there.
Thus did an ironclad rule of the George W. Bush administration coat and tie in the Oval Office at all times fall by the wayside, only the first of many signs that a more informal culture is growing up in the White House under new management. Mr. Obama promised to bring change to Washington and he has not just in substance, but in presidential style.
Although his presidency is barely a week old, some of Mr. Obamas work habits are already becoming clear. He shows up at the Oval Office shortly before 9 in the morning, roughly two hours later than his early-to-bed, early-to-rise predecessor. Mr. Obama likes to have his workout weights and cardio first thing in the morning, at 6:45. (Mr. Bush slipped away to exercise midday.)

The “little people” can sacrifice, donchaknow...
He’s our Pop President. Casual is the name of the game as his frontmen (thugs) do his dirty work. And the taxpayers foot the bill.
But I thought that the world wouldn't put up with us if we had our themostat set to 72? And Obamanation has it set high enough to grow orchids?
“hen Mr. Bush wanted to see a member of his staff, the aide was summoned to the Oval Office. But Mr. Obama tends to roam the halls”
KInd of like that manager you had that never did any work, they were never at their desk because they were just wandering around the building all day.
Reagan was famously nine-to-five.
I have my doubts. Reagan and Bush never removed their coats in the Oval Office. Clinton ... well ... removing his coat was the least of our worries. I imagine the socialists are happy to have any president at all and thrilled to have one who (so far) keeps his pants on at work.
seriously, what’s the big deal on this stuff?
he works out before work instead of in the middle, big deal.
so, he cranks up the heat, again, so? means he’s less likely to blast the air conditioning in the summer.
no jacket? sorry, that just doesn’t seem like a big deal. come on, there’s so many more important issues to worry about instead of wasting time on this petty crap.
i’d be more concerned that the biggest thing that nyt is going after him on is whether or not he wears a jacket. what about the stimulus? what about the arabian interviews? birth certificate? his connections to know corrupt officials?
So, naturally he moves to Chicago.
what about all that evil carbon he is emitting into the atmosphere?
“And Obamanation has it set high enough to grow orchids?”
He might BE an orchid, for all we know...where’s his birth certificate???
Isn’t there a Federal law on the themostat setting in Federal Buildings?
Somebody should sue to enforce them.
He’s showing that he’s “in charge” to rule!
Try to keep up. He’s the Anti-Christ, doncha know.
Let’s all send the WH a message that we have to wear sweaters in order to be GREEN for conservation and we expect the WH to do the same.
We need to make an issue every time we catch him not living up to his campaign speeches!
I am sending one now. Please join me.
72 degrees, no. But apparently 75° is just dandy.
Klinton often didn't wear pants ...
WTF is he from Illinois, Hawaii or Kenya?
“seriously, whats the big deal on this stuff?”
I got your big deal, right here;
