Well, there is some evidence that leeching actually works sometimes! Those old doctors were on to something, LOL.

That said, I think this bill was horrific and I’m so glad the GOP was united against it. If the Bush tax cuts expire my family will lose $6000 a year, assuming my husband doesn’t get laid off again (he was from Dec 3rd til today—starts a new job today)!

We need to do something to help businesses (tax cuts) so they can “chill with the layoffs” (as another Freeper said a few days ago).

Layoffs will not help consumers spend more. Quite the contrary! My husband and I literally spent nothing “extra” since Christmas. We simply entered no stores and our credit cards stayed in our wallets.

Layoffs are hitting hard everywhere.

Here in Northern Minnesota, (Franken/Obama country) the factories (all 4 of them) are laying off half their workforces.

These people were living high on the hog for years, well beyond their means and most didn't save a dime. Now, they will probably lose their trailer houses and their new or leased vehicles will go back to the bank or the dealer.

But they are all talking about still having Food Stamps and home heating subsidies in an unlimited supply. The Democrats are their heroes.
