White House Unbuttons Formal Dress Code
By SHERYL GAY STOLBERG January 28, 2009 WASHINGTON
The capital flew into a bit of a tizzy when, on his first full day in the White House, President Obama was photographed in the Oval Office without his suit jacket. There was, however, a logical explanation: Mr. Obama, who hates the cold, had cranked up the thermostat.
Mr. Obama has exhibited a relatively informal working relationship with aides like his staff secretary, Lisa Brown.
Hes from Hawaii, O.K.? said Mr. Obamas senior adviser, David Axelrod, who occupies the small but strategically located office next door to his boss. He likes it warm. You could grow orchids in there.
Thus did a rule of the George W. Bush administration coat and tie in the Oval Office at all times fall by the wayside, only the first of many signs that a more informal culture is growing up in the White House under new management.
Mr. Obama promised to bring change to Washington and he has not just in substance, but in presidential style.

Prove it.
Next step, pants unzipped by the wash basin.
So much for energy conservation. I'm waiting for Al Gore to condemn Obama.
Respect for the Oval Office is out the window.
Respect for the President is out the window now.
Reagan had so much respect for the importance and signifcance of the Oval Office, he NEVER entered it without a coat on.
Just this gesture of respect says SO MUCH about the differences between these two people.
If he hates the cold, why take of your suit jacket?
In every office I've ever worked in, it was always the women who cranked up the thermostat. Just sayin'...
That's rich. It just doesn't get better than this.
I guess Zero will let people come in with their clothes on backwards, a la Cris Cross, or whatever the hell they were called.
Hes from Hawaii, O.K.?
I see, he was a Senator from Hawaii.
Oh wait....
Where have you been? Liberals never practice what they preach. Lowering thermostats and lowering expectations and lowering consumption is only for “little people”
Think of the great men who once occupied that office. Now its Barry Soetoro. Disgusting.
Where to begin???
If he hates the cold, why does he call Illinois (Chicago in particular) home??
If he has cranked up the thermostat, how is he setting the example for energy conservation??
By setting the thermostat higher, does this mean he has adopted the Al Gore persona of "Do as I say, NOT as I do??"
If he hates the cold and wants to work in shirtsleeves, why doesn't he move to the south (not that we want him!) where he can do both without cranking up the thermostat!!
I could go on, but you get the gist.
That's rich. It just doesn't get better than this.
Sacrifices for thee but not for me.
Californication in the White House. This whole “dress down” thing, like ALL social diseases, started in California and spread east.
“Mr. Obama, who hates the cold, had cranked up the thermostat.”
Why not, WE are the ones paying the heating bill. Then we are told by the dimwits in Washington we need to pay more for energy.
Yeah, well the toad better not mention to us that lowering the thermostat is “patriotic” and “a necessary sacrifice”. Remember... We can’t keep using our resources without the “global community’s” say so.... Where’s Al Bore??? Carbon Credits anyone???? Surely Pelosi and Reeeiiid have slapped zerO down about this....Nope!
Here we go again. Just like the Carter Administration. Can gray cardigan sweaters be next?
