Sorry if this is already on a thread but this is a subject that I just think many vets (and friends of vets) need to be aware of, if not already. This was brought to my attention by an email so I havent looked at all the details yet myself, but the subject is a major concern...hope this is useful

Thanks for the heads-up! Our benefits have been under attack for a long time. Tricare itself was a way to get retirees to start paying for medical care they had already been promised for life. Without any action on my part, I found that I had been enrolled in Tricare Standard (lowest benefit level). If I wanted to actually be able to make an appointment instead of waiting forever on standby, I would have to upgrade to Tricare Prime (basically an HMO), and start paying for it. Now there is talk of doubling the yearly cost, since it's ‘so low’ compared to civilian programs. Apparently they don't factor in the price already paid by serving 20, 30, or more years.
They need to be introduced to the term ‘obligation.’

Roger that. It’s another Obamanation ahead for us. But the Courts say it’s OK for the government to lie to US and break its promises... but NEVER try that with one a them silly-vilian welfare queens!

There is irony in this statement, "An advantage of this option[cost sharing by TFL participants] is that greater cost sharing would increase TFL beneficiaries' awareness of the cost of health care and promote a corresponding restraint in their use of medical services. Research has generally shown that introducing modest cost sharing can substantially reduce medical expenditures without causing measurable increases in adverse health outcomes."
Okay ... so the question begs to be asked ... how is this applied to socialized medicine?

Thanks for posting. This affects my father-in-law. Veterans shouldn’t have to speak up for themselves. It seems to me America should speak up for them. We owe them. If you are a vet, all I can say is thank-you, and those words don’t begin to cover it.

the entire federal and state pensions and medical plans are unsustainable...it might have been okay when people lived into their 60's..but people live longer now, and just like SS and Medicare, there is no money to pay for this.....
If I, a nurse for 30 yrs, can pay about $7000 a year in premiums for my husband, I suppose the federal employees can cough up a little more, even the military retirees......
I was promised a pony when I was kid and never got it......who can I sue?
my husband was promised a nice pension and medical retirement package for both of us, but his company went bankrupt, he lost his good pension and any medical.....
and who does he sue?

And I’m sure you served 4 tours in Southeast Asia and being exposed to chemical agents, such as Agent Orange. And now that we are aged Veterans with all kinds of medical problems, were have to take out health insurance? Your “pony” analogy is insulting.
