I can only imagine as it was supposed to end here at 2:00 and kept getting worse the rest of the afternoon until early evening. I read somewhere that moisture from the Gulf was heading north and colliding with the cold air which would guarantee a huge mess.
Stay safe!

My sentiments exactly. Our culture sure has debased words of any meaning... or rather, our breathless yellow media has stripped language of real meaning.

Prayers for your sis and for everyone caught in this miserable storm.
I’ll take snow over ice anytime.

I see many reports of sleet in that area but not pure freezing rain ...or at least not huge amounts like just east of you

"Prayers for everyone in the area."
My mom and dad live in Mrytle, Missouri, which is in the SE corner near the Arkansas state line. Mom emailed me this morning saying that they are prepared; got gas for the generator and plenty of food.
Thank you for your prayers. :)

Just trying to throw some humor to those FReepers caught in icy more GoreBull warming sleet storm.......oh do not kid one's self....being on the dole with a do nuttin' gubmint job / comtract is hotter than a platinum gay gray Razor phone that has the 'uhhh uhhhh welll...ug' 0 ring tone on it.
I pray for those tonight not able to actually take care of themselves (kids, sick and elderly).

Good luck, janet.
It sounds really rough out there. I hope these states all have ways to shelter people who get caught on the road in this storm. I remember last year in PA when people were stuck on the turnpike for over 24 hours.
Catastrophic is the right word for large icestorms. They can result in huge losses of life and property.

6 inches of snow since this afternoon in mid-MO. I paid the salt spreader guy to disolve the ice this morning. He’ll be back to plow my driveway tomorrow since I’ve gotta go...

Have you ever seen millions of trees stripped of their branches from an ice storm? Twisted electrical distribution towers from tons of ice? Most of the roads impassible due to trees ripped out of the ground from the weight of the ice?
Live though an ice storm like they are experiencing and I think you will have an appreciation of the damage that ice storms can cause.
Catastrophe or just a minor inconvenience?

Freezing rain was yesterday, last night, and early morning turning to hard sleet until mid afternoon. Then light sleet until now.

We are too (here in northeastern OH) - 7-10 inches is the latest. It’s to snow all night, be icy for two hrs in the am and then back to snow for most of Wed. Based on what I’m seeing on the weather channel, I’m really happy we’re getting snow!

Where is Obama? Is he just going to let white people freeze?
The Anglo genocide begins at the hands of America's Mugabe.
