Software company president John Thompson is the top candidate for U.S. commerce secretary, a senior Democratic official confirmed to FOX News.
If chosen, Thompson, chairman and chief executive of Symantec Corp, would fill the last slot in President Obama's Cabinet.
The Democratic official told FOX News that it is not clear when an announcement will happen, but the official believes it will come soon, suggesting it could be used as a catalyst to move Obama's economic recovery plan.
At a White House briefing Tuesday, Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs said Thompson is just one of the names under consideration and that no decision has been made.

Commerce will slow to a crawl, and huge amounts of resources will be sucked away in the process.

Hmmmm... I dumped their internet security system because they ran the business so poorly; that doesn’t bode well for his commerce skills.

"The workers are rehired to disassemble the plant. And ship the equipment to China," says the ad's announcer. "Washington sold them out. With the help of people like John McCain. He supported tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas. And voted against cracking down on China for unfair trade practices. We can't afford more of the same."
Will someone ask Thompson about call centers in India???

Well, that's appropriate since Symantec screwed up my system two years ago with a bad subscription renewal download and then tried to charge me $29.95 to tell me how to fix a problem they caused.
Thompson should do very well in the federal government.

On the brighter side, maybe they'll post a link on a gov't website to a tool that will uninstall the whole damn administration!!!!!
