Democrats Launch Petition Against Rush Limbaugh Tuesday, January 27, 2009 By Melanie Hunter-Omar
(CNSNews.com) The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has launched an online petition for readers to express their outrage at conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh for saying last week that he wanted President Barack Obama to fail.
The petition includes a 19-second sound byte of Limbaugh, saying, If I wanted Obama to succeed, Id be happy the Republicans have laid down. I dont want this to work. So Im thinking of replying to this guy, say okay, Ill send you a response, but I dont need 400 words, I need four: I hope he fails.
Meanwhile, Obama advised Republicans last Friday to stop listening to Limbaugh if they wanted to get along with Democrats and the administration.
You cant just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done, Obama said to Republican leaders who met with the president to talk about the stimulus package.
The Republican National Committee did not return calls requesting comment.

I’ll qualify it even more.......I support the office of the President but don’t support anyone who wants to ‘change’ America into a Socialist nation. (I didn’t, however, support the ‘office of the President-elect’. There is not now nor has there ever been an official office of the President-elect. It was just a figment in the imagination of our narcissistic Dear Leader.)

Thank you, EdReform. I had no idea a Republican had come out lambasting Rush. It seems the original article referred to a Tom Price, but it was actually, Rep. Phil Gingrey, R-Ga., who blasted Rush.
House GOP Leader to Rush: Back OffThis is getting bad. Repub's are in disarray. Time to decide what we stand for. Time to stand up for conservatism.
The Dem's see they have a chink in our wall. They are trying to crack the Conservative base. They are going for the kill right now. It's time to stand United.

that's just it, they want the country's focus taken off it. That's why they want to transfer focus to Rush.
Worth repeating. Keep calling our Rep's and Senators about this bill.

Great response by Rush:
Limbaugh, in an email to Politico, wrote: I’m sure he is doing his best but it does not appear to be good enough. He may not have noticed that the number of Republican colleagues he has in the House has dwindled. And they will dwindle more if he and his friends don’t show more leadership and effectiveness in battling the most left-wing agenda in modern history. And they won’t continue to lose because of me, but because of their relationship with the grassroots, which is hurting. Conservatives want leadership from those who claim to represent them. And we’ll know it when we see it.

The "GOP leader" is Rep. Tom Price, who heads the conservative Republican Study Committee. I consider myself reasonably well informed (judged against the average citizen, not against FReepers) and I've never heard of him.
Can you imagine how ridiculous it would have looked for President Bush to say to Democrat leaders, "You better stop listening to Keith Olberman, that's not how things get done!" The media would have been aghast and no doubt we would have column after column on how petty Bush was being, how he was assaulting free speech and opinion, how un-Presidential, how insecure, blah blah.

I hope that they do all they can to push for some sort of fairness doctrine. Who hasn't wondered when or how the demonrats would overreach? This ought to do it. Nothing like pissing off the millions of talk radio listeners...and the 2010 election is getting closer every day.

Our country is being driven to the edge of a cliff in many ways. DONT BLINK. Dont flinch and look them square in the eye when you stand. But never, ever cower or go down on your knees to these jackboots. ......
.....All seriousness aside, now IS the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country. And no, I didnt make that up.
Well said!!!! This is exactly what we need to be doing. Call our senators, our representatives....challenge our friends and family who are not conservative...and so on....

If the RNC leadership had any backbone they would immediately attack this assault on the First Amendment. Ditto

How can the citizens of this country watch their elected officials attack, verbally and in writing, a private citizen?
How can the MSM hide O’s licking of the arab feet when he refuses to answer any questions from real American citizens?
Why can’t Obama find a Church to suit him? Has he managed to get to ANY Church since he was elected? Will there be foot washing appliances in the WHitehouse next? Will the Obamas have their own person Iman (or whatever they are called)?
This is a truly frightening time for our nation.
To: Sub-Driver
Well we all knew it was going to happen sooner or later.
The Democraps have finally come out publicly, for the outlawing of Free Speech.

How about a petition against all elected federal officials, in advance of voting the b*stards out, complaining about the debasement of the currency and wholesale looting of the treasury?
To: Sub-Driver
I dunno....some of the first posts I've read here I a bit fliipant, this may just turn into an ugly fight.
Per an article on Drudge, the weenie gop (no I won't even capitalize it) is on the dems side already.

Want to bet that Rush sells the results of the on-line petition on e-bay for $2.5 million, and gives it to charity. Right, Harry Reid?

Maybe Rush should elaborate... what’s really needed is for the federal government, including Obama, to fail to debase the currency further by spending our way out of the recession.
That’s very different from having Obama fail across the board.
