Beleaguered Citigroup is upgrading its mile-high club with a brand-new $50 million corporate jet -- only this time, it's the taxpayers who are getting screwed.
Even though the bank's stock is as cheap as a gallon of gas and it's burning through a $45 billion taxpayer-funded rescue, the Citigroup's execs pushed through the purchase of a new Dassault Falcon 7X, according to a source familiar with the deal.
The French-made luxury jet seats up to 12 in a plush interior with leather seats, sofas and a customizable entertainment center, according to Dassault's sales literature. It can cruise 5,950 miles before refueling and has a top speed of 559 mph....

BF is gonna love this one.
There is good news! They stopped filling up my mailbox with applications for Credit Cards!
Every cloud...
Excellent. I’m glad when good use is made of the BushBailoutBoondoggle.
Citigroup decided to get its new wings two years ago, when the financial-services giant was flush with cash, but it still intends to take possession of the jet this year despite its current woes, the source said.
The thing was ALREADY ordered two years ago. Cancelling the order would do nothing but screw the jet manufacturer out of $50 million.
No problem. The public trough is infinitely deep. Quite frankly, I’m surprised they didn’t buy two.
I wonder if they will be smart enough to take a train when they have to fly back to Congress to ask for more money?
You can’t just make this stuff up...
“The French-made luxury jet seats up to 12...”
French?
The French government declares that their recession is over!
Since our tax money payed for it........that means we can use it also. Right?
Welcome to the Democrat/Socialist-sponsored economy. Many of us in the Tech industry are facing this problem right now. Who do we go whine to about keeping our money train going?
$50 million. 12 passangers. That’s $4,166,000 per seat.
Not a bad price if you can get it.
Wow! I doubt even J-Lo's seat costs that much!
And result in a lawsuit for failure to take delivery, no doubt.
A deal is a deal.
Ya know, using the Patrick “Patches” Kennedy metric that the construction of one luxury yacht employs 1,000 families, this kind of stimulus of private sector investment might not be a bad thing. But then they turn around and buy from the French??? Merde! That’s akin to parking a Honda in a UAW plant’s parking lot.
Our tax money pays for Nancy’s Pelosi’s plane too. I don’t see the media complaining about that...(eye roll)
The article also said that Dasault makes 7 of these things per month. They should have no problem selling it to the Arabs....
Yeah but she’s special. Besides, she feels that it is her right..........or something like that.
I’d say it’s none of our business, but that isn’t true any more.
