Atlanta Woman Uses Stun Gun To Help Officer In Distress

LITHONIA, Ga. -- Tanisha Cross never thought the stun gun she received for Christmas would come in handy so soon.

Cross said she was headed to Wal-Mart in Lithonia with her mother when she noticed a DeKalb County police officer being attacked by a suspect.

“I just told my mom pull over, … let’s try to help,” said Cross.

The 20-year-old mother, who received the stun gun as a gift from her husband, said she kept it in a diaper bag.

Cross said while others gathered to watch, she sprung into action.

"I went straight for my kid’s diaper bag and I got it and asked it if he [officer] wanted me to do it and he said, 'Yea,'" said Cross.

Cross said the officer had a hard time defending himself because the attacker had taken the officer's radio and managed to rub pepper spray in the officer's face and eyes.

Jolting the attacker, Cross' timing couldn't have been better. Cross said she tasered the suspect in his arms and legs.

Cross said she stunned the attacker to where the officer regained his composure and fought back until a security guard came to their aid.

"He’s brave," she said. "He did his best to keep him from his gun. He handled the situation very well. I was just glad I could help him," said Cross.

Cross doesn’t consider herself a hero.

"I’m just a bystander trying to help do the right thing," said Cross.

Now that all this “historic” crap is over, I sure HOPE a lot of blacks will divest themselves from the Democrat Party and test the waters of conservatism. I know a lot of blacks who’s every view is conservative, but the vote Democrat. It frustrates me.

It hurts.

As the longtime friend of a crazy guy in high school who had one and liked to sneak up on people and use it (when they were napping, usually resulting in my beating his ass); in my experience, the worst spot to be zapped is the bottom of the feet.

Someone help me with this. The perp hadn’t killed the police officer yet, so in my view, this was a “pre-emptive attack” by Tanisha. I thought the UN and EU along with the entire Democratic Party had ruled “pre-emptive attacks” as worse than the Holocaust. And I think the perp even yelled out “Don’t taze me, yo” before she tazed his a$$, which is not very bipartisan on her part. Perhaps next time, before Tanisha tazes, she should take a minute to find out what caused this rabid dog to attack as he did. You may find that Cheney had cancelled his midnight basketball program.

I just didn’t know if a tazer with say, half a million volts applied to the forehead would permanently scramble a brain or if applied to the breastbone, could knock the heart out of whack. I figured if I had to use one on an attacker, that’s the two areas I’d aim for.

The cool thing about electricity is that it follows the path of least resistance, thus a zap anywhere on the body usually sends electricity through most the body.

A “loaded” diaper may have done the trick too.

“My son is an E.R. Doc and says those barbs are a bitch to dig out.”

I doubt it was a tazer. More likely a stun gun since the article stated she used it on his arms and legs. Journalists are among the most ignorant among us with regard to weapons and most other things. The only thing they are truly knowledgable about is sodomy.

Nice job, lady! You did well. Thank you.

.

Blacks in the south are more respectful of authority than those in the North

Up north, the person would more likely have tasered the cop.

Good point and that is the understatement of the year. It is a good thing she did not have an automatic revolver assualt pistol.

That’s a beautiful story! Draws her weapon out of a diaper bag too, that’s priceless. She is a hero, even if she doesn’t think so. Real heros never do consider themselves to be heros. Like Sully Sullenburger. Humble real Americans. Bless them both.

Thanks for posting. The other day, that article mysteriously disappeared before I could read it! That was the funniest, best crime prevention story ever. Thanks for the great laugh. It’s a shame that nice boy’s pants got ruined.

What a heart-warming story! It is a good thing this woman was carrying her stun gun (it is not a Taser as the article states, but a stun gun that actually looks like the Hot Shot Stun Gun)...The difference between a stun gun and a Taser is that the Stun Gun requires direct contact, while the Taser shoots 15 feet of wire to shock, OR it can also be used as a Stun Gun for direct stunning-shocking effect.
