What you have just pointed out is exactly the reason for the attacks on religion that we have been seeing for years.

Actually, yes, there are those that want to take away your freedoms so that they can control you. But there is a higher (and deeper) conflict that is the root of the left's attack on religion (and moral restraint in general).
