WASHINGTON Barack Obama opened his presidency by breaking sharply from George W. Bush's unpopular administration, but he mostly avoided divisive partisan and ideological stands. He focused instead on fixing the economy, repairing a battered world image and cleaning up government.
"What an opportunity we have to change this country," the Democrat told his senior staff after his inauguration. "The American people are really counting on us now. Let's make sure we take advantage of it."
In the highly scripted first days of his administration, Obama overturned a slew of Bush policies with great fanfare. He largely avoided cultural issues; the exception was reversing one abortion-related policy, a predictable move done in a very low-profile way.

He focused instead on fixing the economy, repairing a battered world image and cleaning up government. Like he did in Illinois?
Doesn't charity begin at home?

"The American people are really counting on us now. Let's make sure we take advantage of it." If only he meant it in a good way. Four years of old fashioned Chicago-style corruption coming up.

Obama breaks from Bush, avoids divisive stands...yeah, increased funding for abortion, moved to close Gitmo just as we're finding out prisoners released from there are back fighting our troops, pushed for "stimulus" package including such vital necessities as $300 million for condoms for the Planned Parenthood/pimp contingent of the 'rat party - not "divisive" if you're on the far far loony left or have your head up your a** - but now I'm being redundant......
To: Julia H.
"avoids divisive stands"True! Everybody wants the U.S. to promote abortion worldwide!

We have got to hope that a large number of newspapers fail financially in the coming year. It's the only way to cut off the funding to the Associated Press, which has become the single biggest danger to the ability of the American people to conduct self-government.
This story is typical of the blatant propaganda that passes for "news" in our nation's newspapers. This has to stop, and the only way to make that happen is to cut off the funding that keeps it going. If you haven't already, cancel your newspaper. |

AP arseholes. It was obvious they were going to act like a state run media. They should all be imprisoned as enemies to our democracy and people who actually want to be government watchdogs should be put in their places.
To: Nachum
Using taxpayer money to fund overseas abortions is not only divisive. Its immoral.
Calling for GITMO to be closed in a years time, is just plain dumb.
Pronouncing a stimulus package of $825 billion is fiscally irresponsible.
And picking a fight with Rush Limbaugh is an effort in futility.

AP is now an adjunct of the DNC. I wish many newspapers cut their links to AP. Local readers need to call their papers and tell them to stop propagating AP lies. The headlines betrays the contemptible bias.
