This is one of my pet peeves about the US Senate (thanks to the 17th Amendment). *Technically* I agree with Hilly - Senators SHOULD represent the interests of 'their state'. BUT how many #%$&ing times have we heard junk like this from senators

Now... if senators DO want to "speak on behalf of 'The American People'", then the 17th Amendment needs to be repealed. AND a new Amendment passed where senators are elected in a Nationwide election.
