A Texas high school girls basketball team on the winning end of a 100-0 blowout has apologized to the losing school, calling the game "shameful and an embarrassment."

After watching the local news story a few minutes ago....I have to ask: How can all the adults, school officials included, let this schedule happen?
This is ridiculous. It’s not like the team they defeated had Down Syndrome! They had ADD. Which means worst case scenario they’re hyper brats. They didn’t lose 100-0 because they’re handicapped they lost because, apparently, they aren’t any good.
.................and their subsequent actions in wanting to forfeit made it into a big story now and will only serve to rub salt in the wounds of the girls who were trounced.
At my kids school they bring these kinds of schools in and feed them and lead them through a day of school
then play a fun game with the second and third string playing the whole time.
That way the kids with problems in their past see what its like to be with good kids who dont judge them.
The school has nothing to apologize for, except maybe not playing to run out the clock after it became apparent it was not contest. It’s the governing body that scheduled the game that should be embarrassed.
At this stage of the game (pun noted), a forfeit is meaningless.
Does anyone know if they covered the spread?
You got my point. It was a game to be won. A game that should have never been played.
Every team that played the Det. Lions should forfeit too.
They'd probably beat the Mavericks.
Where is Avery when we need him? Ask Cuban...
This story is made to order for Katie or Matt especially if they can find some Republican parents on the winning side. I can just see them trying to interview the losing side as one by one of the girls wanders off camera.
We should stop keeping score at all sporting events and give every team a championship trophy and participation ribbons. That would make everyone feel better. (even the Lions)
Pffft...all they had to do after 1/2 time was take shot clock violations and “blow” defensive rebounds—fouled them, put them on the charity stripe. That would have helped them score.
Having beaten Ali mercilessly, Holmes went on and on about how much he respected Ali- when Ali interrupted--"If you respected me so much, why'd you whup me so bad?"
Texas, A Christian School, probably conservative....I suspect we will see this story go national soon.
I don’t understand this at all..one group of girls are praised for playing the best they could no matter what...and the other group is being scolded for it. What kind of country are we?
If they had been dyslexic, they would have lost 0-100.
I can see the excitement of the school as they realized they might actually score 100 points, however, in a system that has a built in procedure so a lopsided game is to end sooner, why didn't the officials step in and end the game?
