Val Kilmer Mulls Bid for N.M. Governor
Newsmax ^ | January 21, 2009 | Rick Pedraza

Actor Val Kilmer says he is strongly considering a run for governor of New Mexico in 2011 when term limits force Democratic Gov. Bill Richardson out after 12 years.

Reports that Kilmer is serious about making a bid for his home state’s highest office have been circulating for months.

In November, Kilmer told the New York Post, "There's sort of a rumor around that I'm maybe thinking about running to be governor of New Mexico? Well, it's sort of true. It's been my home for 25 years. I really love my state. Poor, hardworking, decent people — Native Americans, carpenters, artists, expats mixed in with hundreds of the world's smartest physicists at Los Alamos. I've always thought of myself as functioning as a candidate for them.”

At the Huffington Post inaugural party for President Barack Obama Monday, Kilmer again confirmed he is interested in the governorship and said Democratic Party officials have approached him to do so, but he did not name them.

“Actually, they’ve asked me to run for governor,” he tells The Hill. “People seem to want me to.”

Richardson supports Kilmer’s bid to replace him. In September, he told Starpulse.com, "I like the idea. Val Kilmer is a New Mexican, he was Batman. You know there have been successful actors going into politics. I haven't talked to him about it, I don't know how serious he is, but you know if he jumps in a race he's got name ID, so it can't be discounted."

Here’s the trailer for “The Machinist” - you can see how much weight Bale loss for the role.

“The Saint” is a very nice movie. Kind of B quality but Val and Elizabeth Shue make it happen

As far as History Channel, I stick to stuff like Modern Marvels, or the new show Extreme Trains which is pretty cool to watch. Other HC shows I’ll watch is Battle 360, The Revolution, Dogfights, Hero Ships, Man Moment Machine, etc.

I’ll also watch a lot of Military Channel stuff.

'The Machinist' isn't really a ten or fifteen minute judgement type movie. By me it only played on a few screens, mainly at the artsy-fartsy houses. Give it a chance. 99% of all Hollywood product is crap. This one is in the 1% that isn't.

> The clooney ones seemed like they were tailored more for gays and lesbians than any sort of action adventure movie goers.

LOL! So true.

Salton Sea. That was a good movie. Vincent D'Onofrio was excellent. Pooh Bear. One of the Top Ten alltime movie bad guys.

One of the things I liked about Willow was that it made it safe again for movie studios to do big battle scenes. Since then we have had some good epic movies that couldn’t have been done if Hollywood continued to shun hiring large numbers of extras for battle scenes.

I always liked “How Its Made”. But I don’t TV anymore and the Hitler Channel is not online, at least not for free.

LOL, that's entirely appropriate. I too have long been sick of the countless documentaries about der Fuhrer, his henchmen, Nazi occultism, etc. ad nauseum.

It's as if there were nothing more worthy in all of history to talk about. They do little actual history, unless you consider the 'history of the car' or 'the history of fast foods' to be suitable intellectual fare.

I saw that!

Her views were just a bunch of weak Democrat talking points, and she couldn’t back anything up.

That nickname is pretty old. Comes from when the channel got started. They showed nothing, but WWII clips and programs non stop. LOL!

I use to love that channel until I noticed that their non WWII history was quite often off beat if not out right wrong. Then there came the Global Warming/The human race is going to be wiped out by man made natural disasters agenda.

Thanks, I forgot about him in Tombstone.

Yes, outclassed just like Harrison Ford was outclassed by Tommy Lee Jones in The Fugitive.
