Should the McDonald’s woman have known the coffee was hot?

Should she have expected to be hurt if the coffee spilled on her?

Did she do something that risked spilling the coffee?

***

Did you ever burn your mouth on hot pizza? Whose fault was that? Should the pizza maker not heat up his pie? Not serve it to you when it’s cooked?

***

McDonald’s mistake was settling the other suits.

You don't understand the background. McDonald's is liable because they use the heat of the coffee to hide the cruddy flavor. By keeping their coffee at 180+ degrees(20 degrees hotter than everybody else) you can't taste just how crappy it is.

Dropping coffee in your lap should scald you a bit. It shouldn't cause 3rd degree burns requiring skin grafts.
