My uncle was an anesthesiologist at the Galveston Burn Institute.
And y’all know the big old Arabia Shrine Temple here in Houston, over on North Braeswood, is slated for demolition, yes?
Townhomes to be built on its site. Ugh.
That’s sad.
My son, who was born with part of his arm missing, went to the Shriners Hospital in Chicago for a number of years for treatment and prosthetics. They were wonderful people, and the Shriners never bothered us for money or donations.
I hate to see anything adverse happen to them.
Today, with four page telephone bills, taxes that defy the imagination, too many families have both parents working to pay the bills.
Now the family is different, and the husband has to come home and stay home, and all fraternal and too many civic organizations have paid the price.
Hella Shrine Temple in Dallas once had over 13,000 members and the count today is about 3,600.
I give what I can every year to the Shriners and also the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital.
Meanwhile, we need more Masons!
