Although I am a unreserved defender of the Second Amendment I will say that the son was very irresponsible to have chased the burglar down a residential street firing his weapon at the fleeing burglar.
This kind of behavior does responsible gun owners no favors.
This man could have easily killed innocent bystanders, damaged cars or homes.
He was completely within his rights to defend his mothers home and his own life but once the the burglar had fled his mothers property he should have holstered his gun and called the police.
He also could have given chase but when the kid started shooting on the run the responsible thing to do was to stop the chase because other people were also being put in danger.
“This kind of behavior does responsible gun owners no favors. “
So you let an armed person who is willing to shoot others get away? This guy was doing the entire neighborhood a service....and a valuable one at that.
I might agree with you if the perp already had not started firing.....that shows he clearly has no respect for life.
“This man could have easily killed innocent bystanders, damaged cars or homes.”
He didn’t.
“He also could have given chase but when the kid started shooting on the run the responsible thing to do was to stop the chase because other people were also being put in danger.”
Not chasing him would NOT put those people in any kinfd of safety with such a thug on the loose. Don’t delude yourself.
I forgot to add that it is all too easy to question something after the fact, and in your warm home. You almost make it sound like the CCW holder opened fire. Geez!
