McCain pushes for Clinton confirmation in Senate Floor speech ["deep admiration"] [BARF BARF BARF]

(CNN) – John McCain on Wednesday used his first Senate floor speech since the end of the presidential campaign to urge his colleagues to quickly confirm fellow Sen. Hillary Clinton as secretary of state.

"I think the message that the American people are sending us now is they want us to work together and get to work," McCain said. "I think we ought to let Senator Clinton, who is obviously qualified and obviously will serve, get to work immediately."

The Senate is expected to easily confirm Clinton Wednesday afternoon, and McCain's particular support of the New York senator isn't surprising.

McCain confidantes tell CNN the Arizona senator developed a genuinely deep admiration for Clinton during the drawn-out Democratic primary process. Both senators also sit on the Armed Services Committee and had become close on several congressional delegation trips abroad.

I had the TV on while I was listening to Rush comment just after the Messiah crowning and all the democrats went inside and began kissing each other’s butts. Then the camera pannned through and there was John McCain in the middle of them. Hillary was there and she looked like she was ready to kill someone.

Excuse me while I throw up.

I was really disappointed that McCain didn’t go down with the rest of the Keating-5. He deserved it. Now we’re paying for it.

I was a Hunter voter but any one of the candidates was a far better choice than McQueeg.

Don’t feel bad. He lost and you didnt vote for him as Senator. I voted for him exactly 1 hour before polls closed after seeing exit polls. If I thought he had a chance, which he didn’t, I would have voted for Bob Barr.

This Hillary thing is minor compared to what McCain has planned. I always said McCain and Hillary were too much alike to run against each other.

"I think the message that the American people are sending us now is they want us to work together and get to work," McCain said.

Dear Mr. McCain,

You only have an ear for libtards. That is what you hear.

Wasn’t there an issue with her voting for a raise thereby disqualifying her from eligibility?

All that was necessary was for her to agree to take the lower salary, and that is what she did.

He could be doing it to set Obama up to fail. Put the top Dems in the spotlight so all can see who they truly are. What does Hillary have to offer the Department of State, She has only proved she can win an election by criticizing others ideals.

"If Palin had not been chosen the bloodbath would have been enormous"

Yep! Would have subtracted at least, IMHO, 15 million votes from both mcPainInAss and the total vote cast.

McCain and the Dem Party should get a room.

At many levels, I’m glad he lost. Not that I am happy with the alternative.

Do you honestly think McCain is that smart??? He’s too old to be playing the ‘deep game’. Plus the Media is decidedly not on our side, so anything that would arise to show off an Obama shortcoming is going to be ignored. And even if a few stories should leak out, the typical Obama voter is not going to react to 1-time stories because they just don’t pay attention.

Look at those love birds! McCain never had a chance of winning with his attitude. We were screwed from the start. Only bright spot was getting Sarah on the national radar.

I am so angry that cross over dems chose our candidate. McCain was our worst nightmare. What GOP voter would have freely chosen this guy? He’s been sticking it to conservatives for years! arg. I only hope this horrible time in our history, produces a crop of genuine conservatives who are not Washington elites. We need more Sarahs and Joes.

You know, yesterday I was thinking, as I observed the day by adding ammo to my pile, and ignoring all media...the only person as angry as I was yesteday was The HildaBeast.

She must be absolutley livid that this empty suit, foreign born poser, is fake pres instead of her being president. I hate to say it, but I’d not be so afraid if it were her in that Oval Office today. I wouldn’t like it , but at least I know where she was hatched, and I do think she loves her counrty. It really saddens me what has happened.
