ISLAMABAD/ WASHINGTON: Responding to US President Barack Obamas statement that there will be no free lunches for Pakistan, the Pak Army has warned US that it has the choice of reviewing its options.
"Pakistan hopes that Obama will be more patient while dealing with Pakistan. We will review all options, if Obama does not adopt a positive policy towards us," Pakistan's ambassador to the US Hussain Huqqani told Geo TV in Islamabad.
According to the envoy, "Bush was more inclined to Pakistan. Obama should hear us out. He must pay attention to other factors in the region."
Speaking about Pakistan's role in the war against terror, Huqqani said that Pakistan was an ally of the US and participating in the war against terror was in its own interest.
The envoy's comments came hours after Obama unveiled his policy agenda.
The new Obama administration has told Pakistan that it is accountable for the security in the border region with Afghanistan and the financial aid it receives would depend upon its performance in the fight against terrorism.
In lieu of $1.5 billion of non-military aid to Pakistan, Islamabad would be required to making concerted efforts to prevent al-Qaeda and associated terrorist groups from operating in its territory and make concerted efforts to prevent the Taliban from using its territory as a sanctuary to launch attacks within Afghanistan.
Islamabad would also need to ensure that it does not materially interfere in the political or judicial processes of the country, the legislation says.
At least he didn’t say he’d bomb them again.
There is nothing like pissing off an important, even if tepid, ally in the WOT.
Way to go Barry.
I thought they just edit those things out and pretend they didn’t happen with bambi.
The fact that almost all our troops supplies go by convoy through Pakistan to Afghanistan gives the Pakis a lot of leverage. They (or the Taliban) recently burned a couple hundred trucks in Peshawar, and I think it was to send a message to the new Administration that the Pakis are not to be messed with, they have a few cards of their own they can paly against us if we piss them off. Obama will learn that soon enough. Petraeus was in Pakistan this week, I am sure trying to sooth the Pakis feelings before the Messiah took over.
obozo, he doesn’t have a FRICKEN CLUE
Like, they might revoke his citizenship.
Does he still call it, “Pockistan”?
Welcome to the Real World, Barry Hussein. This is well within your pay grade, whether you like it or not.
It is extremely disconcerting. I think he actually believes the fairytale ‘messiah’ bubble that the media has him surrounded with 24/7. Truly dangerous delusions are what I see on his smug face.
This is one thing Obama has right. Our enemies are fighting using Pakistan as a base and we are giving them money. Also their intelligence services are aiding terrorist organizations likely the same guys killing our troops. They are playing both sides of the fence. Looks like Obama might actually follow through with Bushs with us or against us policy. Bush always pissed me off with that, making excuses for people like Pakistan. Just like the India thing from last month.
First the EU and now Pakistan. Think Barry’s figuring out you can’t be a *pussified* president?
I bet they didn’t forget in Paki!
Perhaps ... In any case, they're yanking his chain. He has to act, and he has to get it right. If he doesn't deal with it correctly and decisively, every two-bit international hoodlum will notice ... and the result will be ugly.
you have no idea how much I agree w/ you, he’s speak’s without thinking, as a kid would do who’s trying to impress a girl ( with no clue of the ramifications )
The Pakis are more a hindrance than an ally. They were the ones who created the Taliban and who funded up AlQ. They are also the ones who let OBL hide out in North Waziristan and don’t allow US troops to flush him out.

I’m aware of all that. The Pakis also allow the US and coalition forces access to Afghanistan. Why make a shaky situation worse? That was my point.
