Michael Medved: Inaugural Incoherence: Reassuring Substance Meets Pedestrian Style
Townhall.com ^ | January 21, 2009 | Michael Medved

Posted on 01/21/2009 10:47:50 AM PST by EveningStar

In his Inaugural Address, President Barack Obama confounded all conventional expectations while soothing the fears of worried conservatives.

Based upon the big moments of his campaign, many observers expected a speech of scary, sweeping, socialistic substance written in a glittering, epic, eloquent and indelible style. Instead, the new president delivered a puzzling address of mostly reassuring substance, but worded in a pedestrian, platitudinous and occasionally clumsy style.

I don't know what Michael Medved is smoking, but picking a guy to head Treasury and IRS who cheats on his taxes and then blames Turbo Tax doesn't really soothe my concerns.

Thanks for helping McCain become the nominee though Medved, you're a real pal.

This is normal for Medved.

He’s soft spoken, but half crazy.

Medved not only jumped the shark, he cleared it with several Great White-lengths to spare.

Obama is a sneak. I heard plenty of statements in his speech that indicate he may overturn basic policies and substitute leftist nonsense from top to bottom.

The best thing Obama could do is spend time at the gym and be disinterested.

Medved:"Unfortunately, the citation of these unexpectedly moderate thematic highlights makes the address seem more coherent and effective than it was; for most of the speech, “Obama the Eloquent” offered little more than a clunky, cliché-ridden ramble, leaving the world to wonder what underlying message (if any) he meant to convey."

His programming may be falling apart.

Medved was soothed by Obama’s words? What an idiot this clown is.

So let me get this straight. In two sentences, Medved uses 12 adjectives simply to say that Obama's speech was boring? Further, if the speech was "puzzling" how can Medved claim to understand it enough to say it had "reassuring substance?"

All that, yet Medved has the nerve to call someone else's style clumsy?

Given a choice of listening to Medved or my neighbor’s yapping dog, I’ll love that that dog.

Medved is a closet libtard. I’ve thought that for some time after listening to his show. Some other ‘conservative’ talkers have surprised me, too.

I heard his program for the first time a couple of months ago. I thought it was a woman speaking. He was so irritating I changed back to my usual station.

Lately everyone on the radio is irritating me.

Except for Steve Malzberg at 4 to 6pm on WOR out of NY

Medved may be trying to put sugar on the tongues of the talk radio haters hoping that they will not try to kill talk radio.

It’s a nice try.

I do not think it will work. Once the efforts to regulate free speech start, it will be hard to stop it.
