Social Development Minister Paula Bennett has been applauded after breaking up a group of fighting teenagers in Henderson over the weekend.
The fight took place near the West City shopping centre, with the fighting mainly carried by girls aged between 11 and 17-years-old.
The fighting proved to be so aggressive, one retailer locked its doors to protect the elderly people inside.
Ms Bennett intervened after fearing the fight would brew into something much larger.

She's marvelous, worth every penny we pay her.
Social Development is an important portfolio in New Zealand, and you can see that she takes her role very seriously!

This is the Member-of-Parliament that looks after our city. A very tough, conservative mum in action.
Normally, this kind of story is proceeded by a ‘was stabbed/beaten to death attempting to break up a fight’....
Can we have her?
It sounds like y’all really need some social development!

That’s for sure. If they weren’t already, these young ladies would be armed to the teeth by midnite. Kitchen knives, often.
Pretty good work for a politician, ay!
> Can we have her?
(grin!) I could imagine Sarah Palin, as President, stopping her presidential jeep in mid-traffic to break up a fight like this...
Conform or it's to the Re-education Camp for you Mister!
(grin!) I think she is going to make some fascinating changes around here. John Key chose wisely.
TV3 would be Christchurch
> TV3 would be Christchurch
Yes, it’s pretty much nationwide now. Auckland is their HQ.
Used to be
TV1 = Auckland
TV2 = Wellington
TV3 = Christchurch
TV4 = Dunedin
Ah. That would have been a quite a while ago. You hail from New Zealand originally, if I remember correctly?
TV1 is owned by the gummint and is news, sports, and entertainment.
TV2 is also owned by the gummint, and it’s all entertainment (mostly American)
TV3 is owned by CanWest (a Canadian company) and it is a direct competitor to TV1
TV4 is privately owned, mostly entertainment, and difficult to tune it. (no wonder if it is broadcast from Dunedin)
The whole TV scene changed about 15 years ago. We don’t pay TV licenses anymore, for instance.

Well, our own former Home Secratary and current Justice Minister Jack Straw has on four occasions chased after and on occasion caught and restrained a mugger, but he is still a Nu-Labour toolbag....
He sounds like a good man. Chasing muggers alone can be pretty dangerous: catching them even moreso.

Yeah, and Hitler won the Iron Cross for bravery on the Battlefield in World War One.....

(grin!) All I know of Jack Straw is that he chases and catches muggers. At least his moral compass is calibrated correctly on its “Law & Order” setting, anyway. As I’ve said, it takes a brave man (or I guess a foolish one) to catch Bad Guys alone.
