NATIONAL DAY OF RENEWAL AND RECONCILIATION, 2009 As I take the sacred oath of the highest office in the land, I am humbled by the responsibility placed upon my shoulders, renewed by the courage and decency of the American people, and fortified by my faith in an awesome God.
We are in the midst of a season of trial. Our Nation is being tested, and our people know great uncertainty. Yet the story of America is one of renewal in the face of adversity, reconciliation in a time of discord, and we know that there is a purpose for everything under heaven.
On this Inauguration Day, we are reminded that we are heirs to over two centuries of American democracy, and that this legacy is not simply a birthright -- it is a glorious burden. Now it falls to us to come together as a people to carry it forward once more.
So in the words of President Abraham Lincoln, let us remember that: "The mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battlefield and patriot grave to every living heart and hearthstone all over this broad land, will yet swell the chorus of the Union, when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature."
NOW, THEREFORE, I, BARACK OBAMA, President of the United States of America, by the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim January 20, 2009, a National Day of Renewal and Reconciliation, and call upon all of our citizens to serve one another and the common purpose of remaking this Nation for our new century.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this twentieth day of January, in the year of our Lord two thousand nine, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and thirty-third. |
No.
GFYS zero.
What is this? South Africa?
What next? Tribunals?
No, Zimbabwe.
All my Obama-loving friends are gushing about the end of the individual and the rise of the collective, i.e. Socialism. No worries, though, they are all in for a rude awakening when Zero fails to live up to the hype.
SCREW THAT! They should have thought about that before they encouraged their supporters to boo President Bush today!
No way! I plan on treating the democrats and their ‘Dear Leader’ the same way they treated President Bush for the last 8 years!
Well let’s see—he wants to organize a group of volunteers to carry out his hidden agenda under auspices of the DNC; he’s going to ban handguns, reinstitute the draft, set himself up as a dictator for life by eliminating the 22nd amendment to the consititution to make the US a bastard stepchild of Kena.
Now I ask you? Do you want his reconciliation and change?
1. I did not vote for him. Therefore, I chose fear over hope?
2. I did not vote for him. Therefore, I chose the "worn-out dogmas" (such as the Constitution)?
3. I did not vote for him. Therefore, I am wrong to insist that he "bold and swift" action on the economy also be prudent?
4. I did not vote for him. Therefore, I do not want our health care improved? As if the quality of our health care is poor?
5. I do not believe government only works when "it helps families find jobs at a decent wage, care they can afford, a retirement that is dignified." Can we reconcile?
"Reconciliation" with his political adversaries might have started today. Instead, a gauntlet was thrown down before all those who disagree with him.
Read the speech and see if you agree. there's more, but my fingers are getting tired, and I'm just a little disgusted.
The nation acted the same way in 1977 when Carter was elected. I was in a hardware story purchasing a gun. The store owner had the swearing in on T.V. He said, “The people just took back America”. Many people were just beside themselves. Four years later it was hard to find anyone who voted for him. I’m hoping we can survive four years with this clown.
But there was a difference. People actually knew what Carter stood for. When you ask the idiots who voted for O-boy why they did, all they can say is “He offers hope.” Then they just stare off in the distance. Scary times.
This “proclamation” is utterly devoid of meaning or substance. It’s a big fat Zero. I think perhaps I grew dumber from reading it.
Folks, it’s a lie. The Obama Administration doesn’t care about reconciliation. They want everyone to get aboard their program.
Reconcile THIS!
