From David Horowitz's FrontPageMag.com/DiscoverTheNetworks.org:
March 6, 1970: "three members of the Weather Underground accidentally killed themselves in a Manhattan townhouse while attempting to build a powerful bomb they had intended to plant at a social dance in Fort Dix, New Jersey -- an event that was to be attended by U.S. Army soldiers. Hundreds of lives could have been lost had the plot been successfully executed."

"The bomb was intended to be planted at a non-commissioned officer's dance at Fort Dix, New Jersey.
The bomb was packed with nails to inflict maximum casualties upon detonation."

The House On West 11th Street
March 5, 2000
(excerpts from various pages of the 5-page article)
"Mr. Hoffman had become a movie star but partly because this was West 11th Street had continued to live a relatively secluded life. The street seemed destined to remain a kind of sanctuary, until just before noon on March 6, 1970, when the house next door, at 18 West 11th Street, exploded."
"Devastated by the explosion, the splendid house at No. 18 had been reduced to shattered walls and windows. Mr. Hoffman's living room wall had a huge hole torn in it. His desk had fallen into the rubble next door."
"He added: 'It was an interesting kind of victimization. Here I have good politics and I'm still getting blown out of my house.'..."

"they [the Weather Underground] employed revolutionary jargon, advocated armed struggle and black liberation and began bombing buildings, taking responsibility for at least 20 attacks. Estimates of their number ranged at times from several dozen to several hundred."

From David Horowitz's FrontPageMag.com/DiscoverTheNetworks.org:
"FBI files from 1976, recently made public under the Freedom of Information Act, confirm the connections between Weatherman, Havana, and Moscow. Weatherman leaders like Mark Rudd traveled illegally to Havana in 1968 to engage in terrorist training. There, camps set up by Soviet KGB Colonel Vadim Kotchergine were educating Westerners both in Marxist philosophy and urban warfare."

Actual events always seem to have very little impact on leftists. They go on believing what they have always believed, regardless of any evidence to the contrary.
Apparently he doesn’t hold a grudge.
So did Dick Cheney. Things that make you go hmmmm.
I think his attendance today demonstrates that way back when Hoffman was already looking out for his Leftwingtard buddies.
I wasn't trying to imply he (Hoffman) had anything to do with it, but rather how utterly stupid these people are.
You were joking about Cheney, I take it?
How do your comment and the premise of this thread line up? I am missing the connection. Three guys, unrelated to Obama or Dustin Hoffman, blew up their townhouse making a bomb 39 years ago. The three were in cahoots with a guy Obama met decades later. And from that, it becomes news that Dustin Hoffman attends the inaugural?
So he gave the Weather Underground a pass when his living room became an open wall? Did he eventually move or sue the Weather Underground?
I don’t mind at all about Hoffman’s probable politics: he’s a brilliant actor. His “Rain Man” was astonishing.
I don’t quite get how anyone’s stupidity is being demonstrated by Hoffman’s attendance at the inaugural.
Since the entire premise of the thread appeared a stretch (to get what?), I thought I’d add to the non-sequitor appeal of the thread by throwing in a helping of Dick Cheney.
Hoffmann could have perceived from the explosion that some of his fellow anti-war believers were, in fact, dangerous people.
So if Dustin had bad politics it would have been more understandable and ok then?
Here have a big helping of WTH did you say about Cheney?
Are you serious? Or are you trying to make another 'funny' like the one about Cheney living next door too? Because it's pretty bleeping obvious that it is beyond insane to be supporting someone who worked closely with individuals who, as part of an attempted communist overthrow of the U.S. during the time of the Vietnam War, damn near blew you and/or your family to bits! Obama had extensive ties to Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn. And, FYI, both of these lowlifes are STILL communist today and are STILL calling for revolution...
Bill Ayers TODAY (April 6, 2008), from his own red communist star-headed website, begging to debate communism vs capitalism with Sean Hannity and STILL calling for revolution!
"Imperialism. Im against it, and if Sean Hannity and others were honest, this is the ground they would fight me on. Capitalism played its role historically and is exhausted as a force for progress: built on exploitation, theft, conquest, war, and racism, capitalism and imperialism must be defeated and a world revolutiona revolution against war and racism and materialism, a revolution based on human solidarity and love, cooperation and the common good must win.
We begin by releasing our most hopeful dreams and our most radical imaginations: a better world is both possible and necessary.

Take a deep breath. Exhale. Repeat.
Cheney and Hoffman both attended the inaugural. That is the complete and unadulterated version of what I said.
However, the author of the thread was attempting to make hay out of Hoffman's attendance, so throwing Cheney's name only underscored the absurdity of calling out Hoffman for his attendance, while good solid Americans also attended the same event.
got it?
Why is it that the whole world knows about the civil rights struggles of the 60’s but NO-ONE knows that there were over 4330 terrorist bombings in this country during the 70’s?
For a guy who has no grasp of irony, you certainly are condescending.
Cheney obviously had to be there! Hoffman is an Obama supporter! Big difference, no?

Nor that a large chunk of them were carried out by communist-revolutionary groups like the Weather Underground, the Black Panthers, the Black Liberation Army and the Puerto Rican Marxists, FALN, who, btw, Obama's pick for AG helped to pardon 16 of during his time with the Clinton administration. Clinton and he also pardoned Weather Underground members Susan Rosenberg and Linda Evans. They were caught transporting 100s of pounds of explosives in 1984. They also played a role in the murdering of two police officers and a guard during the 1981 Brinks Truck robbery. They worked with members of the Black Liberation Army and Black Panther Party to carry out the action.
"Black Liberation" sound familiar anyone?

[special Friday night edition--original airdate May 2, 2008]
(some key excerpts)
["(Jose) Diaz-Balart is the son of Rafael Diaz-Balart y Guitierrez (a former Cuban politician). He has three bothers, Rafael Diaz-Balart (a banker), Mario Diaz-Balart (a US Congressman) and Lincoln Diaz-Balart (also a US Congressman). His aunt, Mirta Diaz-Balart, was Fidel Castro's first wife."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jose_Diaz-Balart]
JOSE DIAZ-BALART, TELEMUNDO NETWORK: "Liberation theology in Nicaragua in the mid-1980's was a pro-Sandinista, pro-Marxist, anti-U.S., anti-Catholic Church movement. That's it. No ifs, ands, or buts. His church apparently supported, in the mid-'80s in Nicaragua, groups that supported the Sandinista dictatorships and that were opposed to the Contras whose reason for being was calling for elections. That's all I know. I was there.
I saw the churches in Nicaragua that he spoke of, and the churches were churches that talked about the need for violent revolution and I remember clearly one of the major churches in Managua where the Jesus Christ on the altar was not Jesus Christ, he was a Sandinista soldier, and the priests talked about the corruption of the West, talked about the need for revolution everywhere, and talked about 'the evil empire' which was the United States of America."
REV. BOB SCHENCK, NATIONAL CLERGY COUNCIL: "it's based in Marxism. At the core of his [Wright's] theology is really an anti-Christian understanding of God, and as part of a long history of individuals who actually advocate using violence in overthrowing those they perceive to be oppressing them, even acts of murder have been defended by followers of liberation theology. That's very, very dangerous."
SCHENCK: "I was actually the only person escorted to Dr. Wright. He asked to see me, and I simply welcomed him to Washington, and then I said Dr. Wright, I want to bring you a warning: your embrace of Marxist liberation theology. It is contrary to the Gospel, and you need, sir, to abandon it. And at that he dropped the handshake and made it clear that he was not in the mood to dialogue on that point."
