Pretty good inauguration speech.

I'm sure it sounded wonderful when he gave it. President Flim-Flam is quite the crooner. On paper, it reads like it was written for the "president character" in a disaster movie. Cliché City.

Jonah Goldberg gives The Speech a proper undressing over at NRO:
Tardy and Preliminary Thoughts on the Speech

I thought so, too. Time will tell.

“Is there any chance the realities of office will turn him into (at least) a benign president?”

Yes, actually. Presidents handle foreign policy, yet it is his weakest area and he will lean on others.

The international agenda for the US Executive is pretty set, actually. Posturing about co-operation and openness will get nowhere.
Economically, we are broke, with little to spend on domestic benefits expansion. Tax increases will mean almost nothing in the face of economic stagnation.

It could be Carter, all over again.

Add to that reduce violent crimes. Currently USA is the murder capital of the world. In Chicago alone there are 500 murders in ONE year. When caught all murderers should be executed swiftly regardless of cause. A murdering criminal is much more dangerous to your health compared to a gay person who is not violent.

I certainly can't disagree with that. : ) And living ouside of Philadelphia (another city with a high murder rate) and having worked in law enforcement for ten years, I agree strongly with the rest of your comment as well.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rp6-wG5LLqE

We’ll be fighting in the streets
With our children at our feet
And the morals that they worship will be gone
And the men who spurred us on
Sit in judgement of all wrong
They decide and the shotgun sings the song

I’ll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I’ll get on my knees and pray
We don’t get fooled again

The change, it had to come
We knew it all along
We were liberated from the fold, that’s all
And the world looks just the same
And history ain’t changed
‘Cause the banners, they are flown in the next war

I’ll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I’ll get on my knees and pray
We don’t get fooled again
No, no!

I’ll move myself and my family aside
If we happen to be left half alive
I’ll get all my papers and smile at the sky
Though I know that the hypnotized never lie
Do ya?

There’s nothing in the streets
Looks any different to me
And the slogans are replaced, by-the-bye
And the parting on the left
Are now parting on the right
And the beards have all grown longer overnight

I’ll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I’ll get on my knees and pray
We don’t get fooled again
Don’t get fooled again
No, no!

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

Meet the new boss
Same as the old boss

""Starting today, we must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and begin again the work of remaking America."

so the Chicago mobster thinks the Greatest Nation on Earth needs a makeover !

and he's just the man for the job,

what an arrogant fool

You make alot of sense April. Just more Obama con artistry. Note the amount of legal fees he’s paid to keep his original birth certificate hidden. Looks like he was born in Kenya.

Thanks for the link. Goldberg’s analysis is good. I haven’t read much on the speech. I heard Rush’s commentary on the radio. That’s about it. My thoughts were my immediate reaction.

I understand. He really does deliver pedestrian words exceptionally well. That’s why I only read his speeches anymore.

Off the telemprompter he sounds like ah ah ah ah bumbling idiot. This lightweight socialist con-man, this propagandist’s creation is in way over his head. Has any president in the history of the republic, been elected with less practical/managerial/real-world experience? I guess that’s why I thought his speech was pretty good. My expectations of him are extremely low, but I do wish him well.

Having said that, I believe Barack and Michelle are a tremendous step up from Bill and Hillary,...BUT Barack has the potential to be the worst president in the history of this country. A lot depends upon him and his handlers.

McCain was last on my list of Republicans but I would vote for him EVERY time over Barack Obama.
