Oh I am VERY well aware of that, being a General Washington nut. The General added that on his own at his first inauguration on April 30, 1789 in NYC and every president has followed suit.
However, there remains some controversy as to whether President Washington actually said it or not. I believe he did, but clear proof is lacking.
