Mac, there was nothing he could do to stop this, unless you wanted him to withdraw from Iraq and stuff like that. We were doomed once McCain got the nomination.
Bush was POTUS, as well as the leader of the Republican Party for 8 years-he cozied up to Clintoon after the hatefest in the aftermath of the 2000 election. He played into the hands of the haters during Katrina-allowing them to frame the debate and blame him, even though it wasn’t true, but all the mouth-breathers fell for it hook line and sinker. As far as the war goes, he could have put the smack down on our home-grown traitors. He could have got out in front of the economic tsunami this summer and called out those responsible. He could have went after the media traitors.....
So we were safe for 8 years—guess what? that’s over.
