I am glad this thread was here and hope it stays so we can keep up with President Bush.

Hi. Thanks for the insights into President Bush’s homecoming. Of course nothing of that is shown here.

Does anyone know what time they will reach the ranch?

Oh, I had to see what That One's wife was wearing in the viewing stand. Ack! I had the sound off, though, so I didn't have to listen. I did tune in to FoxNews once, though, when Bret Baier was talking about the tone of That One's Inaugural speech, and he said it sounded angry; so much for 'Hope and Change'.

By contrast, both of George W. Bush's Inaugural speeches were full of optimism, as was his return home speech in Midland today.

So where, in that enormous crowd, were you and Luv W? I cried during most of his speech, as he was recounting times with his troops, and the hard days of his Presidency, But I was also thinking about what we may have to endure at least for the next four years.

Thanks for the “ping”. I really needed to see these pictures again.

Thank you, President Bush. You met your mission and kept us safe.

I will not sleep well tonight knowing you are not at the helm.

I don't know, but don't you know he'll wake up tomorrow morning feeling so free! I was amused by his description of what his mornings will be like in the future. I can't remember it exactly, but if you can find a transcript of the speech check it out, it was hilarious.

I know I'm being catty, but as former Unofficial White House Fashion co-Consultant, I have to comment about her outfit. You couldn't see the dress for the frumpy, housecoat looking thing she was wearing over it. That's awful, because I know the woman has SOME style. The dress she was wearing when Laura had her to the White House was actually quite lovely, and she is a statuesque woman, so she can wear dresses quite nicely.

It's unfortunate that she chose so poorly for this special day.

I didn’t see the homecoming thread; I’ll have to look for it. I used the link that someone posted on the Dose yesterday.

It’s my understanding that she doesn’t have a fashion coordinator type person. um. That’s fairly obvious, imho.

She *is* a statuesque woman who is pear shaped and doesn’t exactly possess a sense of feminine grace, shall we say. A clothing handler (and poise coach) would be of benefit. I’m assuming she’ll rethink her present situation.

I have watched the live speech from the link that DrDeb posted. I have turned my TV off after the 0 started to put the blame about the economy on President Bush instead of Congress, and it is still off

You have a point, and many would not be able to carry off a Chartruese colored outfit....dat's if you want many to hang wit-chew, nome saying?

Hey....I'm sorry, but it's been all black references allllllll day---so I thought I'd join in.... Never-the-less, and I'm sick of it. WE ARE ALL THE SAME.

I hope he feels free and really really happy. I imagine that the change would be rather difficult to navigate. Someone once described the Presidency as like drinking from a fire hydrant and then suddenly it is turned off....

May he find great comfort in wonderful Laura and his faith and family.

Thank you Kaslin for this thread. I have loved these daily dose threads. I cried today when President Bush and Laura left in the chopper. I know I am only 24 but President Bush was the first President that I really admired. He was/still is such a role model to me. I only really have a good memory of Clinton years even though Reagen and George H.W. Bush were Presidents in my lifetime. It seemed like the Clinton years were forever. It was such a breath of fresh air when the Bush’s brought back class to the White House. I am glad you might do a weekly/monthly dose thread. I don’t know how I could live without “a visit to sanity island”. Thanks to everyone who has contributed to these threads!

I finally was able to connect to the link from DrDeb, but found no way to access a live feed. A FReeper had called and said to try it a few times. Later, the FReeper called back and said it was on FNC so I went there only to see/hear President Bush.

The TV was never turned on until after 6 and was turned off again when they cut him off.
