I wondered if you were one of those in the front who was able to shake his hand. Oh, well. You got to be there in person, anyway; that was nice.

I would love to have been, but it was just a privilege to
have gotten to be there. I will never forget it.

And the president is soooooo handsome in person. I could
see that even from where I was, with my limited view. LOL!

I was watching it on mywesttexas.com. It’s possible they have it on video on their site.

Thank you so much for your pictures and report. I'm excited for you that you were there. I sorely wished I could be too. I watched online and cried tears of gratitude and joy for the REST of his life. What a dear man, woman, and family. Character DOES count, and he surely has great character.

Oh...and one more thing...I REALLY started to tear up when W talked about looking in the mirror tomorrow... My Dad used to say it was important to look at yourself in the mirror and like the person you see. Dad, a WWII Vet of 35 missions over Germany died in 2002. It was like he was back and talking to me through the goodness of W.

OH...am I gonna MISS this dear man.

I already miss him.

It was such a SWEET speech and really looked into his heart.

Thanks for this final thread. I haven’t been here for a long time because I hated the thought of him leaving. What will become with the thread now?

I watched the celebration via the link that DrDeb provided. Did you see her?

We didn’t meet up at the event, because we had different tickets. We were going to get together afterward, but we were both wiped out from standing for 5 straight hours. LOL!

It was a pleasure to meet her the day before and share a Starbucks while we visited. I hope she’ll return to West Texas again sometime!....and her hubby, too!

Thank you for posting this touch of sanity. It is needed now more than ever! I just hope that George and Laura are able to drink their coffee in bed in the morning, relax, and feel content that they have done a superlative job over the last 8 years. They were and are a class act.
