I expect that the engines were too badly damaged to restart, though it’s also possible that there simply wasn’t time or altitude enough to do that sort of procedure.
I ducked behind the driver's A-pillar when a deer layed itself across my windshield. Survived enough to finish my drive home even though I no longer had a windshield and I had a dead deer in the passenger's seat.
