Passengers report scare on earlier US Airways Flight 1549
CNN ^ | 01/19/09 | Abbie Boudreau and Scott Zamost

Two days before US Airways Flight 1549 crashed into the Hudson River, passengers on the same route and same aircraft say they heard a series of loud bangs and the flight crew told them they could have to make an emergency landing, CNN has learned.

Steve Jeffrey of Charlotte, North Carolina, told CNN he was flying in first class Tuesday when, about 20 minutes into the flight, "it sounded like the wing was just snapping off."

"The red lights started going on. A little pandemonium was going on," Jeffrey recalled.

He said the incident occurred over Newark, New Jersey, soon after the plane -- also flying as Flight 1549 -- had taken off from LaGuardia Airport in New York.

"Heh. I guess I’d duck too."

I ducked behind the driver's A-pillar when a deer layed itself across my windshield. Survived enough to finish my drive home even though I no longer had a windshield and I had a dead deer in the passenger's seat.

We all come from a long line of survivors.

The same flight does not mean the same aircraft...

"Yikes!"

No big deal after it's over. Likely similar, on a minor scale though I was going >60 mph, to Sullenberger's thought process. One does what one has to. Other folks provide judgment after.

Events seem to move slowly at the time, but the record of events is permanent after the fact.

As before, we all come from a long line of survivors. Just the way things work out.

“...but the use of plastic is always bad. Fly by wire has many potential issues.”
So you won’t get on board a 787 ?

“Or if you do make sure the plane is an American made one”

Both, Boeing and Airbus aircraft are built “global”. There is no “american made” airplane anymore.

The “american made” Boeing is as american as your “american made” Mexico built Chevy Silverado.

"So you won’t get on board a 787"

Given the issues they are apparently having assembling major components built all over the world, yes.
