SAWLANI: For many schoolchildren, especially girls, attending school in Pakistan’s northwestern region has become a life threatening routine.

Since 2007, 168 schools have been blown up by local Taliban militia, who are determined to suppress the empowerment of women under extremist interpretations of Sharial law.

Indeed, where are the feminists? Oh, that’s right, the fact that Augusta Country Club doesn’t admin female members is more important.

It is said that as a group we are judged by how the innocent are treated. I look at little girls as the proverbial canaries in the coal mine. If they are anything but happy, healthy, loved and protected, something is terribly wrong. That is because there is no good reason why they shouldn’t be.

Any culture that would harm little girls is by definition a pathogen that must be eradicated, plain and simple.
