“Sarah Palin.”

Foolish strategy to try to elect a pro-abortion, anti-gun, open-borders liberal Republican, who would fill his administration with the same with the hope that someday Palin would emerge unscathed AND defeat the establishment AND win the primary AND win the general election (with all those amnestied illegals voting) AND remain true to her alleged conservative roots, don’t you think?

And we’re not really sure about Palin yet though, are we?

I expected the old fart to buy it within a short period of time. That’s what a lot of us were expecting. As for Palin, she was having to get immersed in federal issues, so sometimes that can be a rocky start, but I think once she got the hang of it, she would improve with time. My lone problem with her was being a bit too green with experience, but after the full-blown media assassination, she got a baptism by fire and is our best person to put forward in 2012 after she has 6 years under her belt as Governor. Absent her, who would be your preference ?

“but I think once she got the hang of it”

I don’t believe that she is a real conservative, nor do I believe that she is a strict constitutionalist. At this stage, I think the latter is even more important.

“Absent her, who would be your preference ?”

Constitution Party or Ron Paul. Don’t bother flaming me on either.

Ah, so you're a Paleo. Yeah, I won't bother.

And how many millions more deliberately didn’t vote in November because both major candidates were odious ? Without Palin as the VP pick, I’d not have voted for McCain, as I found him personally offensive and antithetical to Conservatism. This collective media orgasm over the False Messiah is the singlemost disgusting spectacle I’ve witnessed in my lifetime. They’re treating this not as an inauguration, but as the coronation of an Emperor... or the Second Coming (in fact, I doubt Jesus Himself would get this kind of treatment). Very few channels one can turn to, save a music station, that isn’t participating in this abomination.

You just summed up my feelings very well- and I don't even have television to endure.

McStain is pro-life according to his voting record. (spare me any 100% purist quibbles)

So there’s not a single Republican you would back? You prefer to not believe any of them are good enough and thus give up on beating Obama?

Sorry , but if conservatives do this .. “Make an “elect no incumbent” rule.” ... and liberals keep putting up horrible people like Al Franken, we get a Senate of crazy liberals.

We have to stop shooting ourselves in the foot.

Elect conservatives, defeat liberals. THAT is the rule.

As I remember it from previous transitions, most new Cabinet appointees are confirmed in bulk with unanimous consent unless there’s some weird issue that pops up with some of them.

Not since the senate dems torpedoed GHW Bush's SecDef nominee John Tower in 1989. Remember when Teddy Kennedy sat there in the confirmation hearings and smugly asked if Tower's history of drinking and womanizing would interfere with his ability to take on the responsibilities of Defense Secretary? Ever since then, cabinet hearings for everything from Interior Secretary to Labor Secretary to AG to State have been contentious circuses for various committee members to preen and bloviate in front of the C-SPAN cameras.

“Ah, so you’re a Paleo. Yeah, I won’t bother.”

I notice that you’ve changed the subject from Palin’s credentials (or lack thereof) to mine.

For a moment there I was under the mistaken impression that your were a principled conservative.

“spare me any 100% purist quibbles”

I’m 100% pro-life, and my opposition to the two pro-abortion Presidential candidates is based on principle.

“You prefer to not believe any of them are good enough and thus give up on beating Obama?”

I couldn’t care less about beating Obama. I want socialism defeated. UnGodly pragmatism in the voting booth always means the continued incremental socialism, domestic and foreign.

No need to throw a hissy. Your comments seemed to indicate the discussion was over. Since you are a paleo by your admitted support of Paul, your view of what is Conservative and what mine and many others are isn’t the same.
